Ok...because Gary Bettman announced in December the cap will likely be $83m

The cap will likely not go past $83 million next season and that is directly from commission and deputy commission. Your deal implies 2 things, first, that Connor Brown alone retains negative value. That's completely untrue. Second, Zaitsev's contract cannot be moved unless the Leafs are willing to unload additional assets. That's also untrue. Brown's value lies somewhere between a 2nd and 3rd pick, so why is a 2nd and 4th round Leafs pick included, just for New Jersey to take on Zaitsev's contract. Absolutely no way. Zaitsev has value, what that is remains to be seen, but he could net a 6th rounder by himself, without any other players, picks, prospects or assets of any other kind involved. If Clarkson's contract can be unloaded, Zaitsev's should be no issue whatsoever.

Well...marleau is conveniently stashed on LTIR. Your description says you’re assuming he retires. If that’s the case, the Leafs would have to pay someone to take his contract because the cap hit would still count.

I’m personally not a fan of Ferland. Just my opinion, but I see him and I get flashbacks of David clarkson.

Maybe less term for Marner at that dollar amount. At under $10m I don’t think he’ll take more than 3-4 years.

If there’s cap space, I don’t mind Stralman back there

I don’t think we need Ferland. Im just saying hes like a player we need. A guy who has grit and can score. I was also thinking about Brandon tanev for like 1.75X3 and wouldn’t it if either Moore can be the 3rd line replacement if patty retires

Brandon Tanev will be a Maple Leaf if he moves on from the Jets. I like the Stralman deal. I don't think Marner gets more than Kucherov. I don't mind the Johnsson and Kapanen term, but I think each will likely get at least $500,000 less. Your deal is still so off though, that's has changed.

Shero is not taking on NZ for that. Leafs fans gotta stop, something shiny has to come with NZ. Picks are nice and all by Johnny or Kap will be what GMs want. Do want to do it, OK.

Zaitsev is not a pile of garbage. He will be dealt separately to a team that has cap room and needs to shore up the back end of their defense. As a right hander, there will be a fair share of suitors I promise you.

I highly doubt Leafs would ever deal with Buffalo. As for the physical parts, I think the Leafs can find better. Remember, if the Leafs got themselves a 2019 2nd rounder, that could equate to a Brett Leason, Matthew Robertson, or Blake Murray, potentially at least.
