Description
The way I see the Chicago Trade breakdown (NOTE: I know there would be an exchange of picks, but I just don't feel like nit-picking that much, so whatever you think is appropriate is what I meant.)

Phil Kessel = Duncan Keith
Bryan Rust + Filip Hallander + picks = Brandon Saad
Eric Gudbranson + picks = Artem Anisimov + conditional picks

Johnson isnt that bad and the hawks wont trade Keith because he will help grow Boqvist and Jokiharju. Saad has had a good season. I rather get a prospect and a 3rd for Maatta

Puljujarvi is a fail. Yakupov level fail. Trading Maatta for him is a non-starter. Maybe for Blandisi. Then you don't sign a done-nothing for $1.25M, you give him the minimum for one year to see if he turns the corner.

The only thing that might be worst than Maatta for Puljujarvi is Kessel, Rust, Gudbranson, Hållander, and picks for Saad, Keith, and Anisimov ($1.8 retained). If you think that Kessel at $6.8M is bad then Saad at $6M is horrible. Saad is not quite as one-dimensional but is certainly not a "well rounded" player, and only puts up Hornqvist offensive numbers. He did NOT become what people thought that he would when he was given that contract. Anisimov is even softer than Kessel, scores like Simon, and is poo in the faceoff circle. If you don't like Maatta because of speed what are you going after 36 year old Keith for? 0-for-3 on who you are getting from Chicago. Kessel alone for those 3 would be a win for Chicago.

"Phil Kessel = Duncan Keith" ... um, no.

Dont want Kessel he will be an anchor and his play away from the puck makes him beyond useless when he isnt producing on the PP.

Kessel has sucked ass this year when he is away from the puck and his production hasnt been offsetting the scoring chances he allows on the ice this year. He is a power play specialist while the most important facet of any players game (even strength production has dropped dramatically this year. Teams are scoring more when he is on the ice than Kessel is creating chances, he is going to have an ugly regression and no team is gonna want to be stuck with him.

"Kessel has sucked as" - Simply a baseless false statement.

You are ragging on Kessel's play away from the puck but the suggested trade is for Saad and Anisimov. Saad's play away from the puck is barely marginally better than Kessel, and Anisimov's is worse. Plus, both of them combined don't approach Kessel's play with the puck.

"he is going to have an ugly regression and no team is gonna want to be stuck with him." - No team wants to be stuck with Saad at $6M or Anisimov at $4.55M NOW. Kessel at $6.8M is a bargain compared to those two.

5 on 5 Kessel has a GF% of 54% so he's doing just fine thank you very much.

Johnson is basically the worst D in the league at creating offense or shot suppressing statistically speaking, but sure we will go with "isn't that bad", I'm sure your eye-test is better than statistical evidence

There is a reason he was kicked off the power play for many stretches this year and why the Pens lead the league in shorthanded goals against...

Stopped reading there lol you would have to be clueless or one of the most biased users on this site if you actually think they are close. Kessel has been one of the worst forwards in the league when the puck isnt on his stick. Saad at 6 million is better than a already declining, much older, and lazy Kessel at 7 million for even longer term. Its really telling how useless Kessel is and how often teams take advantage of him when he is on the ice when he managed to be a -18 on a team with a positive 30 goal differential.

Kessel's play away from the puck has always sucked. But that hasn't stopped him from being a point per game player. If you are looking for a two way forward you are wasting your time. He's not, he's not going into the boards to fetch a puck, and you might get lucky he'll stick check someone occasionally. But he will shoot the puck and pass the puck to the open player for an easy goal.

Which is why OPs deal is also a poor move for Chicago's side Kessel is the last player Chicago would want and his regression is going to be on the uglier side with him already being one of the weaker 5 on 5/even strength players out there.

    A. You screwed up the quote/reply. Smooth...

    B. I didn't say that Kessel was good away from the puck, I didn't really say anything positive about Kessel at all. I simply said that the two forwards coming from Chicago in that trade are worse in comparison. You whine about me being biased but you are so biased that you can't even comprehend what you are reading. Anisimov stinks compared to Kessel. Saad barely does anything better than Kessel, and Kessel skates, and scores circles around Saad. Saad is probably one of the 10 worst forward contracts in the league. (No one is touching Lucic at #1)

that Chicago trade is AWFUL, unless Chicago retains 50% on at least two of those contracts and also is including a abunch of picks going to Pittsburgh.

on a side note, this guy trades kessel almost daily, every single time its a terrible trade. He must really hate him by the way he undervalues him.
