Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Danault, Phillip
  2. Ouellet, Xavier [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Danault is the major piece coming back in this deal. After having a good season he has definitely proven his value and that he's worth the 3 million price tag. The only reason I see Montreal accepting this is that they have better younger guys that could take his minutes. Ouellet is added on because of future trades.
MTL
  1. Määttä, Olli
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Maatta has underachieved and struggled with the penguins. Really is a liability on the ice at this point and shows no signs of real improvement. A change of scenery may do him very well as he still has potential. Montreal coming off a 96 point season could use someone like Maatta to help strengthen their defensive core.
2.
PIT
  1. Rieder, Tobias [RFA Rights]
  2. Yamamoto, Kailer
Additional Details:
Yamamoto is the key piece in this deal as I feel Oilers management has already given up on him because of his size. Yamamoto definetly does not want to be in Edmonton. Rieder is an interesting player to me because I think he can be one of those players that can score the 10-15 goals Oilers management wanted from him he just didn't have the players surrounding him to succeed.
EDM
  1. Hörnqvist, Patric
Additional Details:
Hornqvist has had a great run in Pittsburgh and has proven himself as one of the best net-front presences in the league. However, at a 5.3 million dollar price tag the Penguins may need to move on from him. I believe Guentzel deserves his PP time more anyways and Aston-Reese is essentially a cheaper version of him. McDavid could use some of the Hornqvist finishing abilities on his wing seeing as the garbage he already plays with can't finish.
3.
PIT
  1. 2019 4th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Calgary could use a player like Simon in their bottom 6 to add a little speed and skill
CGY
  1. Simon, Dominik
Additional Details:
I personally think Simons time as a penguins is over and that moving him for a pick is the smartest idea
4.
PIT
  1. Grabner, Michael
Additional Details:
Grabner had a lackluster season in comparison to previous years and I think he would be a player Arizona wouldn't mind giving up to the Penguins, they share similar cap hit and he will be very useful in replacing Cullen on the PK
ARI
  1. Gudbranson, Erik
  2. 2019 4th round pick (NYI)
  3. 2020 5th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Gudbransons stint with the Penguins proves that he isn't this absolute Pylon that Vancouver fans make him out to be, however the Penguins do not really need him with players like Addison coming up in the AHL. I am sending him to the Desert because of their defensive struggles this season. I believe he can bring a little scariness and grit to Arizonas defence.

2020 Conditional, If Grabner resigns in Pittsburgh or Scores 30 points it becomes a 3rd

MTL definitely says no. They aren't in the position to trade away 2Cs right now.

EDM has no cap room to make that deal work.

CGY probably says yes if they need Simon.

ARI is pretty analytically smart, they won't want a slow dude slowing down their fast, young team. Yes Gudbranson has been better looking than people thought but that's because you've played him on the bottom pairing. Don't think anyone wants to pay a decent bottom pairing guy $4M.

Overpaid zar, overpaid Pet, overpaid blueger, underpaid Rieder, underpaid Petrovic, Edm doesnt have the cap space rn to take Hörnqvist and Mtl deal is fair but I highly doubt they want Maatta.

MTL is not giving up 2 Centers in this deal you also have to keep in mind Poehling needs a roster spot for next season.

For Arizona, I understand they're an analytics team but even since coming to Pittsburgh he has been playing around 18-20 minutes a night and he really has proven himself if you do research.

Edmonton trade was hypothetical if they were to free salary cap which they would if we take Rieder (2m) off their hands

ZAR is getting paid like a 3rd liner should.

Petterson is not being overpaid whatsoever he has potential to be better than Dumoulin

Blueger will get a 925k-1m contract

Rieder came off a terrible season at 2million he deserves to be paid less, its a 1 year deal to try and get him back on his game

Petrovic is coming off an ABYSMAL season at 1.9 million he deserves less

Edmonton is losing 3.9 million from Petrovic and Rieder keep that in mind plus retaining salary is still a thing

Montreal has inquired on Maatta many times don't count them out

Montreal moving either Hudon or Danault makes the most sense since Poehling needs ice time.

Montreal also has terrible defence and could use Maatta

The 3rd round pick is for the extra value between Hudon and Danault

Montreal is going to trade their most important center and receive a struggling defesemen? No thx. We need speed and offense from the backend, Maatta does neither of those things.

Calgary doesn’t need Simon as they are loaded on the left side but I think lots of teams would offer a 4 for him

Zar has 23 career points in 59 games. That is not close to enough to give him anything more than a 2-3 year 900k-1m deal. Petterson is very good, he is probably looking at a 2 year 1.8 mil contract. Blueger more like 3 year 800k-900k, Rieders season wasn't awful if you watched him play, certainly will be signing a 1 year deal and payed less but 1-1.5m is reasonable, again Petrovics season was not bad, probably wont be getting a 1 year deal, never know tho i guess, and between mete, weber, petry, kulak and juulsen, maatta would be the Habs 6th best dman so why would they trade for him?

Gudbranson wasn't brought in to only play defense. And you didn't replace that on the team which is why he's not being traded.

Addison is no where near ready to play at the NHL level. He looked horrible in prospect camp this summer. He played one game in WBS on his try out and lets just say it didn't impress.
As WBS is out of the playoffs, he might get to play 3 more games there. It will be at least a year if not longer for him to play at the NHL level.

I highly doubt they buyout JJ. They will trade him if they can or send him down to wbs if they need to save a bit of cap space.

It is literally not possible to underpay Rieder. Not even including the near non-existent offense, he basically provides what any call-up from the minors would provide. The difference is that he has some NHL experience. He is equivalent to the Derek Grant and Jimmy Hayes signings last year. The question isn't what you sign him at (that will be near league minimum, like Grant) the question is does he get a 2-way, like Hayes.
