If San Jose keeps Karlsson they will not have enough sign RFA's and take on Marleau's contract and what says he waves NMC?

Then why aren’t we keeping him? And why are we retaining?

There are two options with marleau, he retires or he’s a leaf. No wiggle room for anything else.

I said shark. Not leaf. Its either kadri or marleau that had to go with zaistev for cap space. And marleau is expendable

No Kadri is.... Marleau has a full nmc.

There are two players the leafs can not trade. Marleau is one of them.

You added over 6m on the blueline, there’s the issue.

Players can get asked to waive it. You do know that right.

The blue line is ****. Out scoring doesnt mean the defense is good.

Team defence has been bad... the blueline certainly isn’t a powerhouse but you have to make a choice.... give up a young talented forward or make due with what we have till some AHLers are ready.

If he retires he will waive, if he doesn’t he will not. Sharks cap situation isn’t any better than the leafs.

there's no way in hell Toronto touches Ryan Merkley. Not even for a 7th let along trading one of their key vets for him.

He was deemed by multiple teams as a DND (do not draft) when he was drafted. It has nothing to do with his on ice skill. He's a pain in the ass to deal with with his off ice shenanigans. He has a massive attitude issue. Leafs management is air tight about their off ice situations and doubtful they'd even think of getting Merkley. He was also traded from Guelph in the OHL who is a contending team this season because of his attitude. Unless he fixes that, most teams aren't gonna have interest.

Oh, honey. No, no - we love him, we do. We super want him to sign a one day contract and retire as a Shark - but as much as we love Patty we don't want to pay him six million dollars. Frankly, even if we wanted to pay him that much we absolutely could not do it given the cap situation.

Sorry, but Doug Wilson doesn't even take that call.

You're absolutely right about all of this - I genuinely think that the Sharks might be the only team in the NHL that has a chance in hell of knocking sense into that kid & I only say that given their success with Evander Kane over the last season and a half. (Also because we've got him and we need him to shape up and live up to his promise, PLEASE Hockey Gods....)
