Hawks 3 pick available for trade

Created by: ChiHawk
Team: 2019-20 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 10, 2019
Published: Apr. 10, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My bet is the Hawks are willing to trade down as their targets are one of Cozens, Dach, Turcotte in that order.

Podkozlin is the clear #3 pick and Byram falls in somewhere in the top 6 picks. That leaves the Hawks willing to trade down to the 7th spot.

So the question is, what would the Avs, Kings, Wings, and Sabres (maybe Oilers too), give up to move up to the #3 pick.

The Avs - RFA rights to JT Compher?

Not sure about the rest. Oilers could be interesting.

I'm pretty sure most GMs use the draft value chart. The difference between say the 3OA and 6OA is like a 4th round pick. If you are looking for some great steal you most likely aren't going to find it.

I think it's worth more then a 4th but don't disagree with you on the draft value chart.

Podkozlin is a clear #3 and a step above the rest of the top 10.

You have Hughes and Kakko at a 10, Podkozlin as a 9.5 and Dach, Cozens, Byram as a clear full step down at a 8.5, Turcotte, Zegras, Krebs, Boldy as a 8. That's your top 10 picks right there.

I see the Hawks targeting any one of Dach, Cozens, Turcotte and Boldy being a good fit.

The question then is, who wants Podkozlin; Kings? Avs? Oilers?

Cute. Wouldn't give up the #3 pick for Nylander. Maybe focus on the Leafs trying to figure out their cap situation and finding a way to get beyond another 1st round elimination.

Why can’t people make jokes anymore without people trying to throw rocks

Fair enough; #3 OA pick for Marner...solves the Leafs cap problems.

That's what the chart says, roughly a top 4th round pick, late 3rd. It's like a 120 some points.
They don't grade the picks on the players, only the position given history.
The point being, statistically there is very little difference in a lot of those players. It's not like getting the 1st over all. There are huge drop offs after the top pick and the 2nd pick.

Dach would be perfect in my opinion, but Podkolzin, Cozens or Turcotte would be great too. I wouldn't risk trading down too far though; losing out on all four would sting. Honestly, I hope we stick at three and just do what Montreal did last year. We hold all the cards, no need in blowing that.

Or move up to #1, that would be cool too

The hawks gave a 3rd rounder, received a 6th to move from 27 to 20 in 2014.
