If you think OTT didnt lose the Duchene trade, you are kidding yourself.
OTT gave up a 4th overall pick, Turris, Bowers and a 3rd round pick in that trade (to only have Duchene for a year)

Doesn't Lucic have to waive? Don't think OTT will be a spot he would want to go.

Honestly I just don't think it's worth it. There are definitely some high quality players at 8 that won't be available wherever the jackets pick ends up, but the top of this draft class is very forward heavy, and I think Ottawa is looking for a Dman in the 1st round. Names like Soderstrom, Seider and Honka could all potentially be available in that 19-31 range.

Probably better value to just stand pat and draft where they draft. Maybe even do what they did last year and trade down a couple spots.

Dude, your logic doesnt work, at all.
The gap between Brady and this years #4th overall player isnt worth giving up Bowers, Turris, and a 3rd rd pick lol.
You dont even have the best Tkachuk in the league right now lol. Matt > Brady ez

Obviously that trade was a huge mistake in hindsight, but it looks way less bad right now than it did to start the season. Turris is a shell of his former self, Bowers took a huge step back this season, and Brady matches up favorably with anyone likely to be available at 4th this year.

Obviously it wasn't the right move, but there's still a long way to go before calling time on that trade.

Say the Avs draft Cozens 4th overall.
There's no chance that Brady is 42 points ('17-'18) Turris, 1st round prospect Bowers and a 3rd round pick better than Cozens

I think he would go anywhere. Ottawa might even buy him out since he would be owed 2/3 less salary and still have a huge cap hit

The problem with Lucic is term.........

In 2-3 years, Ottawa are going to have to sign half their roster out of their entry level contracts.. I think Ottawa are going to target shorter terms bad contract

And I don't think moving up 10 spots in the draft is a big enough incentive.

That being said, I think Duclair would be a great fit in EDM

The shell of Turris put up more points 51 last year than Brady put up this year 45.
Turris was hurt this year, missed nearly half the season and still had 23 points

There is no way you can say that Brady Tkachuk is better than whoever they get at 4th. You can compare how Tkachuk looked predraft, or even how he looked in his rookie season, but confidently prognosticating predraft? Gimme a break.

Also if Edmonton does this they are ridiculous. DON'T TRADE FUTURES. STOP.

I think we can all agree it makes sense to trade Lucic to Ottawa whether we retain or what, the only problem is he doesn't want to go there.
