Heavy overpay by Tampa. It doesnt take more than a 2nd to get rid of 1 year of Callahan. Miller is worth way more than a 2nd

Tampa trade is a royal joke, No way one year of Callahan+J T Miller+2020 Tampa 2nd is worth a Buffalo 2021 2nd round pick. Tampa says get lost.

Id give Tampa Bogo. They get a good RHD back and still save 6 mill in cap for Miller whos over payed for what he does on that roster

Gotta say that TB declines. Dumping one year of Callahan is not worth Miller.

Also I'm pretty sure that Habs decline too.

Thank you all for your feedback. After the trading dead line there were many proposed trades similar to Callahan, Miller and Sergachev for Ristolainen and I laughed at them and thought they were HUGE over payments for Ristolainen. I still do not think BriseBois would include Sergachev in any trade for Ristolainen, but I have to reconsider the value of Miller. Look at the last 3 years of three players:

gms g as pts
Miller: 157 36 69 105 He plays for the highest scoring team in the NHL with nearly 4 goals per game and nearly a half goal per game higher than the second highest scoring team. I should add that he plays over 50% of the time with Stamkos. He earns $5,250,000 per year

Berglund: 181 50 25 75, (this is his last 3 years with St. Louis) when he was included in the trade that sent O’Reilly to St. Louis, many sport writers considered him to be a cap dump. He has 14 more goals than Miller over that period, but his salary was $500,000 lower than Miller’s.

Sheary: 218 55 62 117 he was recently traded with Matt Hunwick to the Sabres for a 4th round pick. His Salary is only $3,000,000 per year.

I would never suggest Miller should be traded for a 4th, but IMO he is grossly overpaid which diminishes his value significantly. I know the trade appears to be swapping 2nd round picks except Tampa’s will be one of the last in the 2nd round while Buffalo’s will be one of the first in the 2nd round.

I sort of figured it would take a 2nd round pick to move Callahan’s salary, and Miller, due to his salary, would bring back a 2nd or maybe a bit more. This trade moves $11,000,000 salaries which will be needed to sign Point. OK, that is my evaluation of the Tampa trade I posted. I would appreciate everyone’s feedback to prove me wrong.

I agree about Scandella, I borrowed the trade and I was looking for feedback to confirm my suspicions.

Callahan and Miller for Bogosian? IMO, I would even retain on Zach to make this trade. TBO, I am not sure if Miller would get 40 pts playing with Buffalo. BTW what do you think of O'Reilly for 2nd, Thompson and Montour?

ROR? i doubt STL would move him, especially after fleecing Botterill

Funny how you failed to answer my first question. As to the second question I was referring to the return that Sabres got. Anaheim will get the St. Louis first round pick which was used to get Montour.

Check out O'Reilly since his first 14 games. I think he has 56 pts in 69 games which works out to 67 pts over an 82 game season.
I think you have blinders on, O'Reilly said he quit on the team, Hoffman's wife was the locker room issue in Ottawa, yet Hoffman was moved for Boedker whose stats are about the same as Berglund's the three years before the trade (games, goals, assists, points Boedker 235 42 72 114 and Berglund 181 50 25 75) . Both Hoffman and O'Reilly had 176 pts their previous 3 seasons with OTT and BUF respectively. But you still think Betterall was fleeced. That is my evidence that Betterall did exceptionally well, flipping the first for Montour and getting Thompson and a 2nd. You offer your unsubstantiated statements, I offer tangible measurable evidence to support my point of view. I should add, I have watched Montour and IMO he will take a huge load off of Ristolainen and since his arrival he has been the Sabres best defenseman.

I didnt know their was a first question I thought it was rhetorical. Callahan and Miller for Bogo, yes, maybe even add Thompson - they shouldnt have to add much more imo. Montour was not better than Dahlin amd was just as bad in his own zone as evryone else was. IMO thats Housleys fault, but we'll see. Thompson has yet to prove himself and I can easily see the roster without him and a 2nd in 2 years is not something well be able to judge for maybe 5 years. ROR put STL's offense on his back from January on and their players have done nothing but praise him for their turn around. The Ottawa situation is completely incomparable, especially when you factor in the owners and the fact ROR is a center - Hoffman is a winger. Would I have traded ROR for Montour and a 2nd, no, not at all. You say I have blinders on, but you praise everything Botterill does despite him only making this team worse since being hired. He absolutely can not screw up the Skinner contract

From Feb 26th to the end of the season:
Dahlin 1 7 8 -14
Ristolainen 0 5 5 -16
Montour 3 7 10 -4
That is my evidence that Montour has been the best defenseman since he arrived in Buffalo, most goals, most assists, most points, lowest +/-. Hard to argue with facts my friend. What is your evidence that he has NOT been the best defenseman?
Considering Hoffman was traded for nearly nothing ANY REASONABLE (yes they are caps and yes I am shouting) individual would accept getting Montour, Thompson and 2nd was a great return for a player who QUIT on the team. Only YOU would say "The Ottawa situation is completely incomparable" and only offer center v winger as a reason for the HUGE difference in the return, yes HUGE difference in the return.
Do you think adding Perron and Bozak had anything to do with St. Louis doing better this year? So you do not think Jordan Binnington 25-5 GK record had any influence on the Blues turn around? Did you miss my point that in the last 69 games O'Reilly is performing as he did in Buffalo and Colorado?
Finally, I praise Betterall because this team IS better and more important the FUTURE is better. I am so happy DATM is gone, he did everything wrong (in addition to getting the draft picks back would you like to have a third line of Armia, Compher and Lemieux?) he drafted extremely poorly, he did a terrible job signing free agents, he did terrible job with his trades (Gorges for a 2nd, Fasching and Deslauriers for McNabb AND 2 seconds). While we will never agree about the O'Reilly trade, tell me any of Betterall other moves that were bad. Skinner for a 2nd, 3rd, 6th and Pu? Sheary and Hunwick for a 4th? Please provide more evidence that the team is headed in the wrong direction. Some how you do not view the obvious, and paint reality with a negative brush. Oh let me add, the Rochester Amerks did well his first year as Buffalo's GM, he will do the same for Buffalo, it just takes longer to improve an NHL club than an AHL club.
