Why would OTT do this? As you said, DeMelo is a cheaper option. He is also better than Zaitsev. Then to top it off OTT moves down in round 2? Borgman doesn't move the needle for anything.

I don't think Ottawa wants Zaitsev. Find a team that desperately needs a RHD to compete and take him. Kapanen and a 3rd for Tierney and Demelo

Zaitsev is basically untradeable unless you find another GM like Chiarelli. 5 years st $4.5 for a 5th dman is crazy expensive.

I think Ottawa would take Zaitsev because they have more than enough cap space but the incentive would have to be right.



I like your Demelo angle that would be a savvy move by Dubas so I doubt it happens lol. To dump Zaitsev and get Demelo, Kapenen or Johnsson would have to be involved and maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Your trade proposed isn’t bad but doesn’t really help our cap. Which would be the only reason to move any players.

My question is if MacArthur or gaborik are taken off ltir and added to Ir are their salaries still covered insurance wise. My idea would be to move zaitsev with a 2nd for MacArthur and gaborik and demelo. If you needed a prospect too I would be willing to move anyone besides Lilly sandin and Bracco.

I’m still not convinced that zaitsev is the right player to move. Night in and night out he has been proving how consistently he can shut down top lines.

Unless the trade happens before July 1, I highly doubt Zaitsev waives to go to OTT.

If the Sens are on his 10 team no trade list then that'd be a given.
