At least there was no trading Marleau, having him bought out and re-signed by Toronto...

Your Brown and Kapanen trades are right on value (any sane Carolina GM, including the current one, would make that one, given their utter lack of production by right-handed forwards) but your big trade is poor from both short and long perspectives. The Maple Leafs need to shed cap hits, not incur $7.6M for a net plus of only $1.4M. Plus, both Kadri and Zaitsev are signed long-term but Spurgeon is on an expiring contract and Staal is aging out. Greenway and Kunin, or even one of them plus Belpedio, makes more sense for Toronto in their cap situation (but Minnesota would never go for that). Ask @MNBassman or @TanSor.

I'd say no if I were Fenton. Kadri is more of a 2C on a contender (despite being a 3C on the Leafs flushed cheeks ) and the Wild really need that 1C caliber player. Spurgeon or Dumba are probably the only pieces that could get us that 1C and given Dumba's age/contract I can't see us moving him, and Kadri wouldn't be enough (in my opinion) to get me to want to trade Spurgeon.

That said, it's Fenton, so who the hell knows what he's planning. Given the fact the only team he offered Granlund to was Nashville and the only piece he asked for was Fiala, I'd say there's a good chance we trade Spurgeon 1 for 1 for freaking Craig Smith or something, lol.

You are correct! If a deal from the Leafs doesn't have Kapanen or Nylander involved, there really isn't anything the Wild (realistically) would trade for.

If Kadri was 5 years younger...and not such a complete idiot...then maybe I would take him (as part of a package) for Spurgeon.
