I love it, but I think Toronto would only want to move one of Kapanen or Nylander instead of both. That said, where's Kapanen? I'm not sure he'd even fit into our lineup unless we moved Ek or something...

Whoops - forgot to sign him after I traded for him. Fixed it.

Zucker is known to consistently produce 20 goals every year and on a line with a talented center like Eichel there's a pretty good chance he'd repeat his 33 goal season. The guy just potted 21 goals without a playmaker getting him the puck for crying out loud. Sure that indicates a down year, but I'll take 20 goals in a down year any day. Nylander is a wildcard, maybe he's a 20g guy, maybe he never puts it together. Regardless, Zucker is the known commodity for the Sabres and they don't have to figure out what the hell Nylander is. There will still be some good players available at 12. Caufield, Newhook, Kaliyev, Broberg, or Soderstrom could all be there and all of them have top 6/top 4 upside.

Edit: my phone always auto corrects Caufield to Caulfield for some reason.

What do you think of these lines?
Donato - Staal - Kunin
Fiala - Nylander - Kapanen
Parise - Koivu - Eriksson Ek
Foligno - Sturm - Rask

Send A. Nylander to Iowa to ripen some more. Every game I've seem from W. Nylander he's looked a lot better and more comfortable at center than on wing. He's surprisingly solid on the dot, too.

I agree with Zucker. I am a Zucker apologist on this app.
BUT: the value drop from 7 to 12 is just way way to much for me to take on the salary. And Nylander on top of it? Idk about that.

I would offer Nylander and a 2nd or the SJ 1st and a B- prospect (Davidsson, Borgen etc.)

I think Caufield could easily be a 30g guy and there's a good shot he's there at 12. Same with Kaliyev, he's another one of the best scorers in the draft, likely available at 12. I could see Boldy falling that far as well, and he'd be a perfect fit for Buffalo (again could be a 30g guy from what I've seen). I think you're overstating the drop-off in talent. Is there a drop-off? Yes, but there's always a chance a team goes off the board and drafts for need (I could see Philly taking Soderstrom for example) and I don't think the drop-off is that significant.

I think it’s pretty much fair value.

The leafs trade Is certainly a large one and a pretty good one. Think both teams kinda cringe a bit... does that make it really good? Thins out iur right side and bolsters the left. but we have the depth to cover it. Fixes the cap. Minnesota gets two solid right shot forwards.

I would say leafs owe a 2nd and conditional pick if spurgeon doesn’t resign in 2021. Make that one a 2nd too.

Kappy and nylander is a great combo. Wish the leafs would try it.

I've always thought that when watching the Leafs. Never actually seen them together as far as I can remember, but their play styles seem like perfect complements. If I were Babs I'd throw em either on both of Matthew's wings or put Kapanen with Willy while Kadri is out.

Nylander gets the timeshare hounour of having the scapegoat handle along with Z, Gards and a long list that have come before them.. it's something that happens and something we do..

I think Nylander is a better player at center and would love to see a line of Johnsson Nylander Kappy.. if the wild got Nylander and Kappy in a trade they'd make a fun duo. Apparently they're good buds too.

Zucker is a perfect for Buffalo.....he's a better player than Jeff Skinner IMO, and a much much much better all-around player with two-way ability. But for Zucker, I personally I think the package has to be the second first rounder which will probably be in the 20's+ Nylander+ an additional 2-3-4th round pick in future years, + an additional piece

Buffalo really needs a #2-3 center to put with Eichel and Mittelstadt long term and I think they must get one here and keep the pick, espeiclaly if we are moving Nylander

Holden Morrisey Caulfield is a fictional character in author J. D. Salinger's 1951 novel The Catcher in the Rye.
I agree that the value of exchanging first round picks (it is equal to a mid 2nd round pick) and Nylander is indeed more than fair value for Zucker. IMO Betterall would make that trade if Zucker was a center. Buffalo has more wing prospects than centers so, IMO there would not be a deal. Again not because the value is not there, just looking at what Buffalo needs.
