It is difficult to determine Scandella's value. Last year he was paired with Ristolainen, played over 20 minutes and was only one pt off of his career high with 22 pts. Betterall looked like a genius adding defense and scoring while dumping Ennis' salary. With a healthy McCabe and Dahlin this year Scandella was sharing time with Beaulieu and Nelson. As mentioned before, under the right conditions, he may fetch a decent pick or with salary with held another teams cap dump.

Carolina decline, but if they dont, nice pick for MTL. I'll prefer MTL go after Scandella who will be much cheaper than Sekera, MTL wont trade a 2nd rounder for Sekera. Kulak can play on the 2nd or 3rd pairing
Betterall would be happy with a 3rd, but may settle for less (Beaulieu was dumped for a 7th and IMO he was more valuable than Marco, but I am not an NHL expert).

re Carolina: You're probably right. But Fleury has only gotten into 20 game this year and will have Bean pushing him. Figure both him and Hudon are change of scenery depth lotto tickets.
re Scandella vs Sekera: I'm not sure he'd cost less than Sekera. Buffalo are pretty cap comfortable, he's not paid a ton, and he's in the division. I'm just not sure Buffalo would be as open to moving him as Edmonton would be with Sekera. The 2nd round pick is nice, but if it's Columbus' pick it's manageable, fills a major hole, and if he can even play 60 games we probably are comfortably a playoff team.
As you said, Buffalo will have some cap space, so If Betterall wanted he could retain on Scandella to increase his value.

Scandella play like **** in Buffalo. If they can get a pick for him, pretty sure they'll be happy. Sekera got 2 more years remaining
You are correct he had a rough year, but last year most AG thought he was a top LHD, so who knows.
