DISCLAIMER

1. Based off 18-19 performance only

2. Pts/G was a baseline reference stat, but more factors were considered.

2. There were many difficult calls to make, especially since I wanted no more than 6 defensemen and 3 goalies. Some teams had what I considered a tie, so they were assigned based on roster needs.

Personally just as a Canucks fan that has watched a lot of games Horvat was better than Boeser this year.

That could be. I rated Horvat and Boeser as relatively even. Boeser had a higher Pts/G, but Horvat had a higher TOI and might have been more of a "complete" player. I didn't watch either enough and valued them evenly, so I went with the baseline stat.

Guentzel was miles better than Malkin this year. Interested on why you put Malkin over him though

To be honest, that was a lazy shortcut pick because I've always seen it as a static order (1. Crosby 2. Malkin 3. Letang 4. Guentzel). One of the few teams that I didn't even bother to look at the stat sheet or give a moment of time to think about usage/context. But looking back now, had I used the same decision-making criteria (70% pts/game, 30% other factors), I'd probably put Malkin & Guentzel at a tie. In pts/g, Malkin's 1.06 > Guentzel's 0.93. However, Jake was more defensively responsible. To note that Jake scored more goals than Malkin, but was on a line with Crosby (he'd still be real good without, but less good).

Kind of a toss up for someone who's not watching Pens games.

Ya I get where you’re coming from. But ask most pens fans, Malkin had a bad year and Guentzel had an incredible year. A lot of pens fans would agree that Guentzel had a better season then Malkin. Geno was invisible for most of the season (to his standards) played zero defense and took wayyyyy too many dumb penalties. Hard to know that stuff though if you don’t watch the games and only look at the stats on paper

I just checked Horvat had more points and goals than Boeser.

I like the concept! Penguins and Oilers were the easy picks! Lightning was definitely a hard call. Point could have a case for #2

I see what you mean. Geno is a hell of a beast, so I guess when his stats are "just" very good, it makes him seem terrible comparatively. Just don't forget to appreciate the fact that he was a point-per-game player wink Cheers!

Honestly, it was a tough call for the Habs because the majority of the team was "pretty good" this year, but nobody was really elite. Even Price's .918 is a questionable pick as second best player *this year*.
I ranked the Habs as 1. Weber 2. Price 3. Domi 4. Petry 5. Shaw etc.
As for Hertl, he had the second highest pts/game amongst all SJS players (0.96), beat only by Burns. Him and Pavelski also had the most TOI amongst all forwards, 19:01 and 19:03 respectively, showing that he's heavily relied upon in a variety of situations. If Hertl isn't the Shark's #2 regular season player, then he's at worst #3. This wasn't one of the difficult picks for me.

I mean I already explained this, but this is exactly why I used points-per-games-played as my primary reference stat instead of points.

Thanks! I've seen a lot of "Best Players Per Team" type ACGM teams over the past couple years I've been here, so I figured I could change it up.
LOL spot on, didn't think about those two for a second! And Lightning was one of the hardest for me to choose... Ultimately, I went for the one that rounds out my defense pairings :P But it could've been one of Hedman, Point, Stamkos, and Vasilevskiy (regular season performance only)
