They already have krug whos just a slightly better Barrie and have Mcavoy and carlo on the right side for the next 10 years, no need especially to give up one of out biggest pieces on F

My thinking was that Chara will be gone soon, and Barrie also put up more points as a Defenseman than DeBrusk.

Even if they trade Barrie I just don't get the Byram thing. The biggest thing the organization is missing is an elite forward prospect and this is a gift-wrapped opportunity to address that. They already have Makar, Girard, Johnson (for the next few years) and Z for the long-term future and Timmins (maybe Meloche too) coming, obviously adding another elite defensive prospect would be a good problem to have but when there's so many high end forward prospects (who are rated higher than Byram) it makes much more sense to me to use that pick on a forward.

Despite all those points Barrie was still a negative player. He is, as mentioned like Krug, but a step down in my opinion. Also, he is only signed for one more year and will get paid by someone. Also as mentioned - Carlo and McAvoy will be on the top 2 Right side pairings for the next decade. They have pretty good young D pool when Chara eventually retires, but he is back next year as he just signed an extension. (Vaakanainan, Zboril, Lauzon, Clifton, Grzelcyk, Andersson).

At this point Debrusk has way more value than Jost. 21 vs 22 years old. Both 2 full seasons.
Jost: 141 gp 24g 25a 49pts -17
Debrusk: 138 gp 43g 42a 85pts +15

Also Jost regressed in goals from year 1 to year 2
Jost: 12 goals in 2018 --- Debrusk: 16
Jost: 11 goals in 2019 --- Debrusk 27

Jost played more games in 2019 than 2018. Debrusk played less than 2018.

The Bruins won't trade Coyle, he has been very impressive especially considering his salary

Also - If the reasoning was Bruins aging centers - Ok, but they have Studnicka, Frederic & JFK coming up + more (although likely wingers in NHL -- Shen/Lauko), not worth the risk when you know debrusk can score 25 goals in NHL. I don't know the (young) Bruins centers can do that, but i also don't know that Jost can.

Boston has Krug and McAvoy, why would they want Barrie? I think DeBrusk will be a good player, and he's super young. Plus, Bruins already saw what happened with Donato as soon as he was traded to the Wild. Bruins need to have patience will their youngsters. I think Barrie ends up going to Edmonton, IF he is traded.

last 5 seasons...Krug 44 goals 246pts (159 on the pp) in 380 games, Barrie 60 goals 256pts (133 on the pp) in 378gms....I would arguee you have that backwards, Barrie has produce more points, and more 5v5 points as well as goals than Krug. when it comes to offensive point producing Dman in this league, Barrie is as elite as they come.

See I just fundamentally disagree. If we ax my Barrie trade, my guess is that he is gone in UFA next year, to my dismay. The avs have top end guys as we know, but my thinking was that EJ is getting older and will likely regress, especially if he doesn’t stay healthy (bad history), and with Barrie gone, who will replace him? People will say Makar, but why not both? Go have the best defensive pair in the league in how ever many years. I think what a lot of people forget is avs have a decent amount of forward prospects already, maybe not high end, but we have those already. Forward prospects: Jost, Kerfoot, Kaut,, Bowers. All those guys have the potential to be #2 centers. The avs also have another first round pick to grab a forward. That's my thinking, go out and grab the best Defenseman in the draft, because we have prospects in place already.

I agree on the EJ thing, but the defensive prospects are also there with Timmins, Meloche, & Graves. Obviously there'll be a big dropoff from Byram to whatever D they could draft at 16, but there also seems to be a big dropoff after the top 10 forwards in this draft too. If they can sign a top 6 forward in UFA (crossing my fingers for Panarin even though I don't think it'll happen) and trade Barrie for like a Nylander, RNH, or Huberdeau type, things might be different, but right now, I'm a big Jost fan but the organization clearly isn't comfortable with him rn, Kerfoot is already 25, he kind of is what he is at this point, and Kaut should be good but there's a big difference in potential between the 16th pick and the 4th pick. Bowers had a so-so year and even if he reaches his potential he's gonna be a Soderberg type, which is great, but ideally you'd like that to be your 3C. At 4, you can get a forward that will either anchor your second line for years to come or move up to the top line and push Landy or Rantanen down to anchor the second line. Also, from a lot of what I've read, the reason Byram is gonna be drafted as high as he is has more to do with the separation between him and the second best defensive prospect than where he ranks among these forward prospects.

Take your head out of the sand.
Barrie > Krug
Not even debatable
