Just Lou It Part V - The Final Frontier

Created by: ac_Isles
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 23, 2019
Published: Apr. 23, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Another non-Panarin list, because he will most likely sign either with the Rangers (boo) or the Panthers, the latter being the presence of Coach Q and the Florida tax system. On the bright side, this prevents the Isles from experiencing cap hell in the coming years.

Can't see Lehner signing for so little.

I know bellows and dal colle have good ciellings but I gotta think WPG would want more for Ehlers as dal colle value has certainly dropped over the last few years

What pieces would you add and/or replace for Dal Colle in the trade? I'm willing to part with the 1st pick and Bellows as part of the deal, and I know WPG will need offload some cap to accommodate for Connor and Laine during the offseason.

Per your advice, I've amended Lehner's cap hit and term.

I agree with @palhal. I think you have to start at $7,000,000. The dude likely wins a comeback award and is a finalist for the Vezina. Kap and Drouin certainly improve the team if that happened.

I don't think the Isles touch a Salary that high with Greiss already signed and Soderstrom, Skarek, and Sorokin waiting in the wings. Lehner may sign at a bit of a discount given his sort of unusual situation - this is the first place he's had success, there is a support system alread and he is loved by the fans. No reason for him to rock the boat. I imagine if he wants 7M, he'll sign elsewhere

To be totally honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the Isles don't even sign him. The Isles system is conducive to boosting goalie stats as they allow a bunch of low percentage shots. They have Greiss already signed who put up very similar numbers - I could see them signing another backup type goalie to a 1 year deal, and then having a clean slate for Sorokin the year after (when his KHL contract ends). I love Lehner, but at the end of the day this is a business and 10M + is a tough number to have tied up in goaltenders

Isles make both of these trades for sure - does Montreal actually take that deal though? Value actually isn't too far off, and we replace Quebecois with Quebecois

MTL has needed a LHD for awhile, and Leddy fits their bill. Since the Isles' D has significantly improved due to Trotz's coaching, the emergence of Pelech and Pulock, and Dobson and Wilde on the way, the team has D pieces they can part with. Drouin has already felt the heat of MTL media scrutiny, and the Isles might be a good change in scenery.

Regarding the trade deal, I threw in Beau's rights because of the same thing, but for a different reason. He just does not fit into Trotz's D system. I'm willing to ensure the trade by adding another piece or two, like a 2nd rounder and/or a D prospect like Aho or Vande Sompel.
