    VGK declines. Malkin turns 33 this year, it's not worth it for them to move their current 1C and 1D for a player that has only a couple of high end years left...

    I'm curious though why would PIT do those LA and CGY trades. In my opinion they lose in both of them.

    The LA trade is stupid for both sides. LA is looking to get younger, not older, the Penguins are looking to get better and shed cap, not take more on.

    The Calgary trade is bad for the Penguins too

    That trade makes LA younger...I don’t get where you think they get older there lol. Carter is older than Kessel, Martinez is older than Maatta by like 7 years lol. Then they add a young prospect. The pens also shed cap in that trade as Carter and Martinez make just under 9.3 mil and Kessel + Maatta makes 10.883 mil

    Because it’s easier to get quick triggered than actually conduct a rational analysis of the trade.
