Description
Please let me know if you gbink ANY of these contracts are ludicrous/beyond reasonably low in any way.

If the Rangers can get through this offseason without any buyouts and by signing their key RFAs (Buch & DeAngelo) to long term, instead of bridge deals, the offseason going into 2020-20201 season is going to be rediculous.

Now I’m not saying that the Rangers will be GREAT in 2019-2020. They’re still a young team with A LOT of rookies. But if Chytil can grow into that 2nd line center role, Howden can play like he did in the 1st 1/4 of 2018-2019, DeAngelo continues on the path he’s on, Rangers are looking at a young, developing, star-studded team with plenty of cap space to sign them all moving forward.

After the 2020-2021 season, Staal, Shattenkirk, Smith, and Lundqvist all come off the books. That’s $25M in cap space from those players opened up alone, in addition to the $6-8M they have during the 2020-2021 season AND the salary cap increase. And that doesn’t even take into account that most of those aforementioned players will be replaced by entry level deals (K’Andre Miller, Nils Lundqvist) and Shesterkin will only be getting his first contract off his entry level deal.

The Rangers are coming folks. Jeff Gorton has done a FANTASTIC job since they announced the rebuild.

I won't comment on the contracts, but I think the Rangers on in a great spot to be top team in the mid 2020s one longer. Have the potential to have " lots" of good young players which generally are more cost efficient. And even the Rangers are over the cap due to the "greatness" of their players who deserve big contracts, a player or two could be traded for future assets.
Getting some of that "bad money:" expire and getting the new young guns to play important minutes, seems to the remedy to success in a cap league.

I do agree. The Rangers are set to be strong for many years, probably from 20-21. I would also sign Buch and DeMelo long term right now. What about grabbing Spencer Knight with one of your first round picks ? Would he be a better replacement for Lundqvist than Shesterkin ? I don't know him enough to compare.

It looks pretty good actually. Kaapo should be 3 years and I thought Nieves was already signed?

Rangers are in a really good spot and could be a contender in 5 years. Everything, or most of everything, needs to work out, like Chytil becoming 2nd line center, but future is extremely bright and with the quality picks they are getting this year it’s even better.

On the contracts, Panarin will absolutely get 7 years, but the salary is right. Kreider might want 6 years but I think your deal is fine. Fast is overpaid, I think. Lemieux I'd day two years at that salary is good.
Sounds like a lot of criticism but really the only one I'm saying is really off is Fast.

Not sure about Knight. NYR have Georgiev, Shesterkin, and Lindbom in the system. NYR are in a position to draft best available. Georgiev was excellent down the stretch and Shestyorkin (it’ll take some time to get his name right) is proven at pro level in Russia.

I think he has Panarin's contract at 6 years because this AGM is for 20-21. If Panarin signs a 7 year deal this summer, he'll have 6 years left at the beginning of the 20-21 season.

But yeah, all in all they're set to be good for quite some time barring any major changes

Ok that makes sense.
I also think they are srt up well. The key is a couple of players out of Kakko, Kravstov, Chytl, and Miller need to turn out to be big stars. Otherwise, they'll end up like the Lundquist years, with good teams always chasing the big free agent or big rental to put them over the top.

Shestyorkin was 24-3-1 last season in the KHL with 10 shutouts a 1.11 GAA and .953 S%. He’s a stud. Obviously time will tell if he can adjust to the NHL, but still. NYR aren’t taking a goalie.

Yeah I tried to make it as if FA this year had burned off the first year of their deal. And in terms of Fast, assuming that is an overpay that just helps even more if they get him for less. Kreider is the big question mark for me, will they trade him? They definitely won’t let him walk for free. Can they make a Brassard-Zibanejad like deal for him even though he’s an expiring UFA? Big things coming is all I know
