Maker has shown he will be a star in the league. Avs seem to be hitting their stride and are on an upswing. Why trade a a potential stud defenseman for a cap dump and a bust and the 2nd overall pick. It sets them back not moves them forward. Do like Kreider, but Avs have money and can get FA.

Tampa says no because they need to shed cap not take it on. Smith makes over 4 million and Cirelli makes 750k. Adding 3.25 million is counter to what Tampa needs to do to sign their own players like Point.
