1) Tampa needs to lose salary, not add
2) WOW dude... you’re WAY overvaluing Barrie,
no chance that trade happens

Oh God yes, please take Cozens at 4th overall. The Kings would much rather have Turcotte.

Tyson Barrie just got 60 points as a Defenseman, on a team that barely made the playoffs, He's a Top 10 if not 5 Defensemen in the league.

What’s wrong with Ferland? 20 goal, 40 point guy who hits like a truck.

That was my thinking on the trade. Tampa has been looking for a RH puck moving defenceman for a while. ie Karlsson and Ristolainen rumors. Karlsson is too expensive and Barrie is much better than Ristolainen. So IMO this trade works.

Barrie won't be signing a 7 year 6.3 million AAV deal. John Carlsson got 8 million in 2018. When Barrie's contract is up in 2020 he will be getting at least 8 million. Not saying he's as good as Carlson, but with the cap up significantly, 8 million is probably the minimum

He will still be significantly cheaper than Karlsson

I personally disagree. The cap was at 79.5 million when John Carlsson signed that deal, he got 10.06 % of the cap. At the time it was considered a slight discount as to what he could have got in free agency. Ekman Larsson got 10.4 % of the cap on his new deal. The cap is expected to be 83-83.5 million next year, and with Seattle joining the league, there's no reason to believe it won't be at 86.5-87 million when Barrie's deal kicks in. I expect Barrie to command around 10% of the cap if its only a 7 year deal like the AGM poster suggested, or 9% if its an 8 year deal. Either way it comes in around close to 8 million or 8.5 million for a 7 year deal

Trouba is expected to make 7.5 million next year, so 8 for Barrie (who's already a ufa) doesn't seem unreasonable

He wasn't even top five in scoring and there are a lot of dman most teams would rather have that had less points. That trade is weighted heavily in COL's favor.

Thanks for that, i needed a good laugh

If he was actually a top10, if not top5, defenseman in the league...
then there’s absolutely NO WAY that you should want to move him

Take off your “homer” glasses
Barrie get nothing close to this if he’s traded

And you're still IGNORING how Tampa needs to CLEAR SALARY, not add more with the Cap Issues they have

Well, ive found the genius here ^ lol

No homers here. You do realize the Avs need to move Barrie for Expanision draft purposes, right? They protect 3 D (Johnson - NMC, Makar and Girard) meaning Barrie is left exposed and Avs should deal with while his value is high. I agree that Barrie is an elite offensive defencemen (skating, PP etc.) but this trade does favour COL too much. Barrie for Johnson and a 1st rd pick (27th) is fair value.

OR
You only protect 4 forwards & protect 4 defensemen,
bc the AVs don’t have 7 forwards worth protecting

IF Barrie is actually a Top10 defenseman (that’s still laughable),
then he’s ABSOLUTELY PROTECTED, not traded
***And the AVs happily figure out the expansion draft letting Seattle take Zadorov
***Which is what would happen anyways if u protected the 3 defensemen u named & traded Barrie

So no... the AVs don’t have to move their “Top10, if not Top5” defenseman

And AGAIN...
The original proposed trade, and even your Johnson + 1st- (which is much more reasonable, but still overpay by Tampa)
does NOT address that you’re sending Cap towards Tampa when they’re already in dire straits with the Cap and need to ship salary OUT, not ADD MORE
