What im rooting for at the moment is experiment with third line :

Johnsson - Petan - Kapanen

Johnsson and Kapanen bridged at 1 x 2,7M ( or similar like Bjorkstrand or Faksa ) so we see if they are worth money they are claiming they are.
Petan was point per game "wonder", tho line would be a bit short on height, but i think Johnsson is gritty enough to add few Cm to his 5'10......

Gee, if that first rounder is top 5 protected, the Leafs may never see it . That's a good thought on the trade. Leafs trade two RWers a position of strength. . Wonder if Oilers can take that cap?
Still I think it too much for the Oilers to give up. Maybe Bear and this years 2nd rounder or maybe just a top 5 protected next year. Maybe Bear and an exchange of 1st rounders with the Leafs getting a higher pick.

Ummmm... no.... you are not getting kappy for bear. The trade is fair don’t like it? There are 29 other teams that can make the same deal.

Brown for bear is slightly tilted our way, kappy for a first is slightly tilted there way. I call that even. Bear may not fit into their system so I am picking him up. The same deal could be made with the canes for mckeown and a first or with the preds for allard and a first. Any team that doesn’t want brown I would do the prospect and a 2nd. Depending of course on the prospect.

1. it adds two nhl forwards for someone not yet able to make the roster. Sure Bear is a top prospect but they have Jones and Bouchard ahead of him in the organizational depth chart.
2. Holland has no skin in the game here. He didn’t draft Bear so it seems less likely he overvalued him as most oilers fans do. Let’s not forget he was a 5th round pick.
3. Holland saw in person a ton of Brown the past 3 years regularly. Including 7 pts in the 12 games he played against the red wings. Most Oiler fans that respond on this seem to think that Brown had 128 pts playing with McDavid in Erie, nearly a point a game in AHL with Marlies and scored 20 G his first year as a leaf. Only the addition of nylander, Marner Marleau and kapanen the past two years pushed him down the depth chart to bottom six position.
4. Let’s not forget Kapanen is former first rounder who has proven he can play now in NHL top 6. The guy was the key piece in the Kessel trade, he is coming off tremendous first year that has many thinking he is worth an offer sheet at 4+ million and now he isn’t worth eathan bear? Sorry I don’t agree
