I might disagree. Monahan's performance in the second half analylically was terrible. Seems to be a trend. An interesting article I read in the Athletic questions whether Monahan is THAT guy in the 1C role. This can certainly be debated.

Now, given the wears Calgary has, packaging Monahan for an upgrade would make sense. Hayes flat out isn't that. (Note: Hayes is not a fit in Calgary ay all imo)

Monahan and window dressing to Tampa for Point?

Could you peel Barkov if you moved a young blueliner with him??

Moving him for picks is the worst idea ever. But, moving him for a clear offensive upgrade? Entertain it.

Hayes isn't even a number 2 C if your team is any good

It was more the idea of picking up a centre in free agency and trading Monahan. Duchene would be good but he is Nashville bound. Would love to get Point but it will cost both assets and dollars. I just think we could sell high on Monahan.

to even mention Barkov in the same sentence as trade senarios is wild.

I would agree with the Monahan trade and signing Hayes to replace him there's not mush else out there besides Duchene and he ain't coming here unless we're willing to pay in the area of 10+ a yr. NYI is a good gamble on first rounders as they are not really a threatening club for cup runs so in two, three yes. You end having a 1C in the end plus Hayes would end up being a 1C anyway playing with johnny hockey and Lindholm he'd score in bunches with those two guys he's a gritty guy in front of the net
