Calgary eats money and a badish contract to get paid handsomely
The reason this trade seems so low is because both hanifin and Lindholm are both UFA's so is Zucker sure maybe Calgary gets an extra 1st or a low end prospect for taking on Zuckers money but no team is gonna give away their entire prospect pool for 2 months of hockey. now if yotes were guaranteed long terms by one or both players now we'd be talking a lot more I'd say 1 or 2 top 5 prospects, 2 firsts, and 3 second rounders.

I don't know about Fleeced But I do agree it probably be more than what I put down they would want a prospect or 2 on top. but those picks could turn out to be HOFer's picks are more expensive than we like to think. Unfortunately Dube hasn't played well in the last 2 seasons so it would be a hard sell for more imo

I'm not sure if Yotes would move Zucker but they would have to shed some salary in order to get both Lindholm and Hanifin even after Calgary eating some money. Zucker would more likely go to FA anyway so this would work for Calgary to bring up Shwindt, Ciona or Klapka the following season. Kylington is in the line in the hopes he returns. DeSimone or Osterle probably move on after this season so that makes room for Poirie or Kunetzov. Isles probably win that trade hands down but Calgary gets a decent D-man to fill in for Hanifin and tanev being gone and Isles get some much needed scoring depth.

Calgary needs to make space for Wolf and jersey could use a decent back up
I don't think Calgary gets higher than a 6th unless they eat half of Vladar's money but I think if they can get out of that money they would be happy with this trade. I do think Jersey would not mind the contract Vladar's a good back up and is known to be a decent tandem 1a 1b goalie

this trade would only happen if Yotes really thought they could make a run. in this exact fashion probably not but Yotes do have an abundance of picks to trade to go for a serious cup run

A good fit for Hanifin Det is gonna be aggro at the deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Why would a team with Walman Petry, Edvinsson, Wallinder, Chiarot, Holl, Ghost, Seider, Maata trade for another dman?</div></div>
well more likely one or two would come the other way but Hanifin is a bonified 2-3 D-man that would make detroits D a top 5 core in the league it would be pricey but with the way there going I would not be suprised if they kick the tires at Hanifin and Lindholm.

I don't know how to put conditions on picks but I think Calgary could get a 1st if Hanifin resigns longterm with Det otherwise it would probably be a 2nd and a prospect

TO overpay to get Tanev
I'm not sure if Calgary would get a prospect and another pick on top of a first rounder but if Calgary eats half of Tanev's money I don't think it would be far off.

I don't think Lindholm is going anywhere either but if he is I'd expect an outrageous over pay for him.

the semi rebuild cap dump
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Funksoljah</b></div><div>He's a solid player who had a great year, but he's also only broken 50 points 1 other time. With 1 season left on his contract, his highest value is probably at the TDL and won't be from Buffalo who is flush with scoring wingers.
I also wouldn't hold my breath on getting substantially more for him than what the Flames paid to acquire him. A top 15 pick in this draft isn't happening when other teams know Calgary has cap issues. Look what Bjorkstrand or Patches got last year. The recent wingers that got the kind of value you expect were guys who were younger, and had RFA years left i.e. Fiala, DeBrincat, Meier, and Reinhart.</div></div>
I'm sure your right it wouldn't be as high of a price but Buffalo could use a player like Taffi I don't think it's too far fetched of a trade their would be conditions on a first or 2nd and more likely it would be a NHL ready prospect attached or a low end 4th liner. If anything this would be a trade that could happen in the off season if taffi is traded lets say in December then I would doubt flames get more than a 3rd rounder

Cap dumping Big UFA signings to take more cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ComixZone</b></div><div>- Monahan trade is pure trash
- Rittich is overpaid
- Tkachuk is likely underpaid
- Flames won't lose Bennett for an offersheet that returns a 2nd
- Flames won't eat 1.5M on Neal "just because" without giving him a chance to bounce back
- Brodie is worth more than a 2nd and a 3rd
- Flames won't cough up a 1st for Zucker at this stage, and it would have been a mistake at the trade deadline</div></div>
The zucker trade thing they are still saying a first only because how many other teams that are in the works and are willing to give up higher calibre players than frolik. To be honest I don't think Calgary is gonna pursue zucker anymore to much going around making him way more expensive to go get than he really is. With Monahan I did that on a speculation that him and johnny hockey have been fight over a personal issue so I just mocked a quick release deal to get one or other out to reestablish chemistry in the locker room thats why I I signed Johansson in free agency to replace monahans play. I agree with Brodie he is worth more but at the same time it will be hard to convince other GMs to give up more considering the whole league knows he's being traded for cap room basically. Bennet is a wait and see thing thats just another what if mock things. I read an artical yesterday with tre having him second on the signing priority list. Once again I agree with Neal do think they'll give another opportunity to bounce back but at the same they might not want to wait and just dump him somewhere to get cap space for another free agent signing to bolster the right wing a bit more.

Overhaul
I would agree with the Monahan trade and signing Hayes to replace him there's not mush else out there besides Duchene and he ain't coming here unless we're willing to pay in the area of 10+ a yr. NYI is a good gamble on first rounders as they are not really a threatening club for cup runs so in two, three yes. You end having a 1C in the end plus Hayes would end up being a 1C anyway playing with johnny hockey and Lindholm he'd score in bunches with those two guys he's a gritty guy in front of the net

Trade Deadline Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SmugTkachuk</b></div><div>What part of Jankowski is valuable? I think this may be the last year he has any hint of decent trade value. he is a half decent bottom C with a low ceiling, lacks any offensive ability to drive a line from the middle, is a liability in the defensive zone, people say he can kill penalties but that is strictly because he scored a few on the PK, most of which other player contributed to his chance more than he did himself. He's just not very good and there are better options everywhere.</div></div>
Granted he got help getting those goals on the pk but that's called a team effort and he lead the league in short handed goals. And yes he's a bottom six guy his value don't come in points his value to the team come from his size, the faceoff circle he was one of the better faceoff guys for the team you need a guy like that for those crucial offensive faceoffs and defensive ones as he did all season on. The pk, plus he brings energy to the line up. Maybe its just me but that's what I've seen out of him

I'd would have gone the ceci route but don't think that Vancouver would give up Spooner for just rights to sign

Yup I think they gonna go the short term route with chucky 5yr 7.5m Bennet is a tricky one I think he's a 2.2ish gave or take a couple hundred thousand he's a bottom six forward with ability to take some faceoffs and special teams. But giving the rumors of Vancouver might offer sheet him at 3m making it hard for Calgary to pay him over that if this happens yeah your it would be around 4m but I don't think Calgary does a counter offer and he becomes a canuck for 3m
