Keep it simple

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Things are possible without dumping too many salaries, however you have to have the RFA contracts fall into the proper range. I don't know if Kappy gets you Fabbro but he is the type of low-cost option that you need. You want to look for some similar (Andersson in Calgary is probably unattainable).

While that D is not awesome, it leaves spots open for a Sandin/Lily midseason promotion and you might be able to move Z then. He was also capable with Muzzin in the playoffs.

Keeping Nylander and Kadri keeps the forward corps with 3 lines who can score, and when Dermott comes back the D gets a boost.

I think this is the easiest way to weather the salary cap storm without giving away assets.

You are forgetting the leaf factor. Leaf players are worth more and Dubas is so good he can trade crap for gold. Even though he overpaid for muzzin. And could of had Montour who is younger, better and will be RFA. He screwed up nylqnder big time. Over paid for Johnny t Or at least didn’t get deal like so many leaf fans I believed. And screwed up big time on Matthews and marner contracts when they could of signed them a lot cheaper before season. Not so much Matthews but especially marner. Signing Matthews to 6 year deal was also dumb because could loose him two years sooner.

But besides all the mistakes he still believed to be god and can turn ? to gold

I honestly didn't think Myers was that well thought of, considering he barely played for them this year and has his path to playing next year blocked as well.

My thought process was more, Kapanen is expendable and let's find a cheap RHD that we think can make the jump to playing more minutes. It's not pretty (and likely risky) but a way to stay under the cap while keeping Kadri and not being able to move Zaitsev. Thanks for the feedback.

The trades u made are not even close to being realistic. So nothing to improve. Brown is worth 4th and Kapanen is worth around 2nd. Wingers are not worth RHD unless they significantly better. The players proposed are worst then the RHD.
