would love any sort of retention or saving from Rask contract, but Minnesota has too much tied up in Parise/Suter and now JJ to retain for any team I think. Jarry is a great prospect and probably could earn retention on a bigger contract, but I think Minny is in some trouble soon. Nice maneuver to get two bad contracts for 1 bad contract, but I think the first move could hold up the second one. I like the Pominville signing though! Would be a great leader for the WBS boys in bottom 6 hopefully.

I'm from Ottawa, Ceci is really a great guy but he's a well bellow average D, even for bottom pairing, especially if you have to pay him

Based on how Gudbranson played with the penguins, Ceci would be a significant downgrade. He's that bad.

At least he has an offensive pulse. I'm not expecting 65% CF from a 3rd pairing defenseman, but if Petterson can elevate Ceci to be just okay while providing the 20ish points he's had, then I'll take it.

Ceci only produces offensive because of the crazy minutes Ottawa gives him. He should be used as a 3rd pairing defenseman, where he will have less opportunity to produce. We don't know what Pettersson can do anything to help him. We do know that it's working fine with Gudbranson. No reason to do this, especially since Ceci will be looking to make more than the $4.3 million he made last year. That's insane for what he is.
