Leafs are not going to pay someone to take Zaitsev, I know that he's a huge whipping boy but realistically he's a #4/5 Dman in his prime making about what #4/5Dmen make.

I don't understand why you would let Johnsson walk to sign Patrick Maroon and end up under the cap, just pay Johnsson. Maroon is a nice story this year but he's not as valuable as Johnsson

Betterall would keep Dubas on the phone until he could physically get Zaitsev in Buffalo so Dubas could (edit) not change his mine.
That is a HUGE over payment for Casey Nelson.
Zaitsev would be perfect pairing with Dahlin.

My opinion. Cap space will be king this off season. Some players will be traded at 50% off.Vegas has ~5 mil to re-sign Karlsson, Gusev and Schuldt.

TB has ~ 8.5 to sign Point. Tor ~14 to sign Marner, Kapanen and Johnsson. Smart GMs can take advantage.

Zaitsev to Buf wouldn't be bad for Buf and help out Tor.

Eakin, Holden, Reaves, Haula, Miller make a combined 16 mill and shouldnt be hard to move. You dont trade good players when youre trying to go for it, you trade some added depth.
Tampa will trade Callahan along with prospects or pick, and possibly Miller, Killorn, Johnson, Palat or Gourde before they touch the core.
Toronto is different they need D. The best thing is to trade Nylander for a cheaper RHD and trade Brown and possibly Hyman and will be able to re-sign everyone. You sign Marner whatever it takes.

Don't disagree Zaitsev to Buffalo would be reasonable but the Leafs aren't going to cough up a prospect & a 2nd round pick as well for a 26 year old who might not even make the Leafs

Didn't say they couldn't get rid of players.

TB dumping Callahan and Raddish for a 6th. Sure. Sabres will give Tage Thompson for Johnson.

Colin Miller for mid round pick. Check.

A year ago TML fans were talking Nylander for Parayko. Now.. Dump him so we can sign Marner.
