Only if Byran Murray is the GM in Arizona and LA do I think the Leafs could get those young players from those two teams. Would be nice though. I'm optimistic, don't know if the Leafs need Goligoski and heck if those trades are made, maybe not even Stamkos.

IMO I think that matthews is too important to the fan base. It took how long for TO to pick first? I think it would be bad for business personally. Torontoso fans deserve matthews at this point. AND TO has an insanely deep prospect pool.

If I was to put Kadri into this deal I would want probably the 1st in 2017 rather than the 20th this year due to that his is on a very cap friendly contract for 5 more years. I also, think if Lou and Co decide to trade matthews he will get Domi, Strome, 7th this year and probably 1st next year due to that they will still probably be a lotto team next year and we already have a record amount of picks this year.

Both trades are terrible. Toronto is letting go of the best player in each of those trades and not getting much back in return. Why do we need to be doing Arizona or LA a favour like that? If Arizona isn't giving up at least OEL and their first PLUS then whats the point? For the LA deal there is no point in holding salary for two guys who only have the potential to be as good as JVR offensively. Toffoli only has one more year left on his deal and he will probably be expecting over 4.5 per on his next contract.

ARI definitely says no.

LA likely says no too. They are giving up the best player in the deal (3 years younger than JVR will/better similar production) and their best prospect lol. Nice try though...they let Lucic walk before making this disastrous decision.

RE the Matthews trade. If i were both teams, i would think long and hard about it. Take Matthews and Strome and the 7th out of the equation and the value is pretty equal. (Slightly better for T.O in my opinion) then the trade becomes:

Matthews for Strome + 7th = In terms of value this is pretty fair but I agree with the sentiment that Arizona has to overpay, I'll say this is currently in Arizona's favor.
and
Kadri + 30th for Domi + 20th = Honestly this one is in T.O's favor. Domi has shown that he is at the very least equal already to Kadri but cheaper. The draft picks here are actually very far apart. there are 4 echelons in the 1st round this year. You have 1-3. Then 4-10. then 11-20 and then 21 on out till the 2nd round.

IMHO, with this trade, T.O would have the best top 9 in the league by year 4. (This being year 1)
