So let me get this straight, Detroit having 3 x #2 centers already (Veleno, Rasmussen, and Athanasiou) trade for another one?

Yeah, file this under not going to happen.

From Preds point of view, this move is essentially Athanasiou+Hronek for Bonino+Sissons+Trenin+2nd

What a great deal...

Nashville wouldn't accept this, even in video games.

Neither team does this, Detroit doesn't want or need P K Subban he's to expensive and to old for a rebuilding team like Detroit. Would love Turris he had wonderful chemistry with Mantha at the worlds. But no thanks on Subban. Would much rather give what it takes to bring Trouba home.

Veleno possibly, No way either Rasmussen nor AA turn into #2C not remotely happening. AA is still better at wing as is Rasmussen. Turris had fabulous chemistry with Mantha for Canada at the worlds. I'd definitely be for bringing Turris to Detroit. But if we're fortunate to get one of Cozens/Dach/Zegras or Turcotte. More then likely they're our future #2C and Veleno slots to our #3C more or less.

Neither would Detroit? Subban is too old and expensive for a rebuilding Detroit team.

This isn't even close to equal... take off the homer glasses when putting these together...

For the record, I would NOT make this move, but to make that trade (Turris and Subban coming back) it would be more like Athanasiou, Helm(contract retention return for taking on Turris) and someone like Lindstrom (or McIssac) PLUS probably a pick ... even though Subban's contract is cumbersome, he's still an elite level defenseman...

Like I said, I wouldn't make that trade (to me AA is damn near untouchable), but that's more like the value for value amount it would take to make that happen...

As a Wingsfan, I get what you are saying, but Subban only has 3 years left on his contract, and could possibly be traded for assets. Getting rid of Nielsen is key here.

Rasmussen's natural position is C. "He's learning how to (play wing)," Red Wings director of player development Shawn Horcoff said. "He's normally been a center. We know him to be that and view him as that. But at the same time, it's always good to learn how to play wing, which makes him more of a complete player." Maybe this changes with Yzerman's management team.

AA would probably be better suited to the wing. However, the Wings don't have that right now--they have that in the pipeline. So, next year AA should be their #2 center. In his 15 game trial after they traded Nyquist, Jeff Blashill said. “I’m hoping putting Doubles in that spot, it can ultimately produce for us a top-two line center and ultimately we’re a way better hockey team....At center, it’s easier to get him the ice time that could have a greater impact if he plays great games,”

Veleno would still be the #2 center if they drafted Cozens. They would move Cozens to the the RW. Veleno focused this past year was on becoming a better 2 way center (including playing the PK) and he still tore up the Q. But if they drafted Dach, the same can't be said for Veleno who plays the same kind of role. Turcotte to me is a 1st line player and they would have to find a way to use him that way....but I seriously doubt he makes it to the Wings at 6. Lets just say it would be a nice problem to have 2 x #2 centers. My preference would be Turcotte, Zegras, Bowen Byram, Cozens, Podkolzin, Caufield in that order, I just hope they grab a 1 year cap problem (say Callahan) to get a draft pick and bundle some of those 2nd rounders with it to move up and get Philip Broberg or Spencer Knight as the team has enough depth players at forward and defense and needs more top skilled players that don't generally develop from 2nd round picks.

I just don't see a fit for Subban or Turris when they have all this young talent developing. Lean on the kids this next year and shoot for another high draft pick. The core is young enough and they have some bad contracts to wait out anyways.
