1. You have to win the cup before you can "retain" it

2. You've taken the depth and threw it out the window. This team would be lucky to make the playoffs.

3. You lowballed Carlo hard

4. JFK is going back to Sweden and doesn't require signing.

I don't hate the idea, his value has definitely gone up this season with 70 points and a strong playoffs. But if they were to trade him I think they should go after Kevin Hayes. I think they could get him at 5.5-6M for 3-4 years, coming home to Boston. and Boston would save 1-2M in cap space.

The only thing you missed was Mcavoy will be signing a bridge deal.

I get where you're coming from but 1. is just clickbaity and with a W tonight pretty likely anyway.

2. This team would easily make the playoffs, they still have fantastic depth defensively. Offensively Krejci will be missed but locking up Johansson and pairing him with Coyle and DeBrusk makes for a solid line. And I feel like there's no less depth than this year.

3. It's a 1 year bridge contract because Chara hasn't retired, he's gonna get more + Chara's salary on top the next year.

4. Yup, my bad!

man, what's going on today, this is like the 5th ACGM that just totally ruins the team.

So, as you may have gathered, no, I don't feel good about trading Krejci for nothing. It's just a truly bad idea. Here are my issues.
1. The trade itself. Vatrano stinks. Ya, he can pop a goal or two with his 5,000 shots per game, but he stinks. He stunk it up in Boston, and I don't want him back.
2. Mojo is not a center. Ya, he can play center, but he just isn't a center. He's also had a significant injury history. I would love it if Studnicka came in and stole a top 6 role. I would hate it if he were forced into it because the 2C was traded for some reason, and Mojo got hurt.
3. If you think David Backes can play a full season as the 3C, I just don't know what to tell you.
4. McAvoy is bridging.
5. Carlo laughs at that.
6. We're trading Halak? Why? Think maybe one of the reasons Rask has been so good is because he got a lot of rest this year?
7. Heinen as a fourth line center? On what planet do either of those things make sense?

This is just...no.

If the Bs win the Cup, I wonder if Backes decides to hang it up. He's had a ton of concussions and is at the tail end of his career.

he's 100% playing like a guy that knows this is his last chance. Pretty admirable.

You've essentially turned the 3rd line into the second line and put Backes into the place he's looked the worst playing at. Also, Krejci would fetch more, not a crazy haul, but more than Vatrano

Just going to focus on #2 here.

You've basically just made your 3rd line your 2nd line. While Coyle/Mojo (along with Heinen) have been solid these playoffs, they're not going to put up the same production vs better competition. I'm also not sure how DeBrusk fits with those Mojo/Coyle. DeBrusk didn't seem to have great chemistry with Mojo, but they didn't get much time either. I'd also say that Coyle is the center, not mojo. This of course leads into putting a lot of eggs in the Coyle basket because of his playoff run. It's not uncommon for players to get hot in the playoffs and not have the same success during the regular season (see Bickell). With Coyle, am I get Playoff Coyle (60 PGP average) or regular season Coyle (23 PGP average).

Vatrano is meh. He was getting top 6 minutes in FLA and he won't get that here. He also played most of his time with some combo of Huberdeau, Trocheck and Hoffman. He wont find that level of talent on the 3rd line in Boston. As for the 3rd line, Backes isn't a center in the Bruins organization. They tried, didn't like it and have made him a winger. Moving to the 4th line, you have Heinen at center, yet he's never played center in his pro career.
