Playing with Buffalo and Philly rumors

Created by: TanSor
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2019
Published: Jun. 8, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
According to Pierre LeBrun, the Sabres kicked the tires on Jason Zucker. Not sure if Botterill is willing to trade him, but I like Risto on our 2nd pairing. Fenton has said the priority is re-signing Spurgeon but making that trade would allows us to move Spurgeon for a potential 1C. Friedman has said there are rumblings Patrick's name could be out there and given Philly's need for a top pairing RD and the Wild's need for a right shot forward, a move revolving around these two would make a lot of sense to me. The Toronto trade is not based on a rumor and has been discussed endlessly, but I like it a lot for both teams.

You keep posting that same Kapanen for greenway deal. It does not work. You will need to add like a 2nd or an early 3rd

I want Fenton to ask for Casey Mittelstadt if Buffalo really has their eyes on Zucker.

That’s how negotiations work though. You ask for more than you know what you are giving up is worth. Botterill also said Sabres are looking for a 2C. Zucker and Eriksson Ek package?

Eh, age difference kinda makes NP for Spurgeon a mismatch.

Not for Mittelstadt tho cmon. Mittelstadt is a C which is trading from need. Trade for a prospects or something in their surplus.

That was one that I thought needed some work. I think Eriksson Ek being included in that deal makes a lot of sense (gives Philly their 3C) and maybe Philly adds another lesser piece. It needs work, but that was the basis at least.

Always start your negotiations high! Can’t have another Nino for Rask!

Greenway scored 12 goals in his rookie season playing 3rd line minutes. Kapanen scored 8 more playing second line minutes with one of the best young centers in the game. Greenway is still on his ELC which also adds a lot of value. I don't see why the Wild have to add a pick at all.

True but I just think he's one of their "untouchable" pieces.

News flash. Kapanen player 3rd line since nylander cane back. So for only 20 games he was top 6.

I completely disagree! This is about as fair and even of a true hockey trade as there is...and one that both teams win with.

You need to be educated on Greenway’s current game...and more so, his amazing and untapped potential. IMHO, his ceiling is considerably higher than Kapanen’s.

News flash. Kapanen averaged 16:37 minutes per night (which is second line minutes) and Greenway averaged 13:38 minutes per night (which is 3rd line minutes). You should really check your facts before you reply to people...

Edit: additionally, I counted 45 full games with Austin Matthews and about 4 total games with Tavares in this chart with tons of games played on Matthew's wing prior to Nylander's return.

Check how much of that was special teams (on a second pp that’s didn’t score) and the pk

He played 61 minutes on the PP... Greenway played 53. Why does that matter? My point still stands that Kapanen played a lot more than Greenway and playing time means you're going to have more opportunities to score.

I do not understand, Mittelstadt for Zucker? Or Ristolainen and Mittelstadt for Zucker?

Well it depends on the trade, see above.

IMO everyone is on the table, after all this team was one of the worse teams in the NHL who is so valuable that he cannot be traded.

How about this trade:
New York Rangers
- Marco Scandella
- Vladimir Sobotka
- F Linus Weissbach
- 2020 4th.
Buffalo obviously getting Shattenkirk

Bottom line is that kapanen is much more proven and that you would need to add slightly, not as much as I said before (I thought greenway was top 6), but moving down from a 2nd to 3rd round pick. Kapanen frankly has proven himself way more and the difference in value between a 40 pt winger and a 30 pt one is quite large. I would say a trade down a round would make that up.

Not total, per game. And I said pk as well. It matters because teams like Toronto draw a lot of penalties per game and are also penalized a lot. In comparison to more veteran teams like Minnesota of course. I didn’t stay check that but from how much I have watched minny, they don’t seen a lot of time on special teams. Toronto does. That should make up at least half of the extra ice time kapanen gets.

He is also one of Toronto’s top penalty killers to my knowledge

I’d take the first two. Patrick could also play RW if Koivu is back

I think I'd rather move Ek to the wing. Patrick would easily become our most talented center and while we need a right shot wing we need a future 1C a lot more.
