Not exactly a steal. Won't be worth it if the Rangers don't resign him and finish out of the playoffs. Rangers can still recoup some capital at TDL if necessary. But certainly a lot less than what many Jets thought would be the return.

Until I see that extension in place, I am still a little apprehensive to jump for joy at the moment.

Even if an extension isn't in place, this would be the going rate at the deadline. Pionk is trash and NYR chose Deangelo>Pionk. They got Trouba for Pionk and 26 games of Hayes. This is a win regardless of an extension.

The trade as of this moment is a Complete and Utter thrashing, if he resigns it'll be one of the best trades in the history of the Rangers

That's a lot of money to spend on defense....$35M including the Girardi buyout.

Have to think they have a pretty fair idea he’s gonna sign an extension. And at worst they can trade him as a rental for at least a first and a prospect.

Either way if he doesn’t want to sign him long term you trade him for the same value at the TDL. And you get rid of Pionk who is BAD. Happy to see they know ADA is the better player...

Now that I have been able to process more, I have also come to this realization, and it makes me feel better. If he doesn't resign, and the Rangers need to move him at the Deadline, they can probably get a better return then what it took to get him in the 1st place.
