He's not arbitration eligible. That Skinner signing really hurt WPG if they want him long term. I do think that Laine is one of the players that would be willing to sign an offer sheet. WPG may have to end up paying if they want to keep him.

At this point, I think it's better for both teams to settle on a 2-3 year bridge deal. No way Winnipeg wants to or should commit long term to him for the money he wants. & Laine isn't taking a hometown discount on a long term deal either. Bridge deal works to see what Laine is long term and then revisit it from there. Just hopefully it doesn't turn into another Trouba situation for Winnipeg's sake

Forgot to mention a price. I'd say it's gonna range from $6M-$7.5M depending on the years. Either $6M per season on a 2 year deal, or closer to $7.5M on a 3 year. If it goes any longer it's likely to be north of $9M or even $10M which is too much for an inconsistent player right now
