Leafs won’t be offering enough to return Pesce. In addition, the Sharks can’t take Marleau’s contract without a 3rd party either buying out 100% or at the BARE MIN retaining 50%. Even w 50% retention, Sharks would need to make DEEP cuts to make the cap work.

The understanding is that Marner has turned down an 8 year, $88m contract already. I think that's what he will end up signing for, unless a team offer sheets

Bud, even if Pavelski goes elsewhere it wouldn't work. We'd be scrambling to plug the hole Pavs would leave on the top line RW position and Patty ain't going to fill it.

Also: no. He had his chance & walked for more money and term. He doesn't get to do that and force SJ to finish out the terrible contract that y'all gave him.

SJ has no interest in a marleau deal with Toronto. They are going to do some kind of load management with Thornton this season and they can find F who contribute at rates far less then marleau.
