It has to be Eller or Orlov right? I have no idea what their return would be, but I feel like everyone else that is signed is either untouchable or a small cap hit/team friendly deal and not worth it to move.

Hope Bmac can work some more magic though. Looks like we might only end up being a 3 line team at this rate...

Orlov could get you a pretty massive return but then you trade your best lhd and would need an immediate nhl ready replacement. Eller is cheap for a 3rd line center imo

People need to get off the Orlov idea. Who the hell would replace his minutes? Djoos? Siegenthaler? A rookie? Look how disastrous losing Kempny was. Now magnify it be 100x. It would be an utter disaster.

The truth is Orlov is reasonably priced. Hell he's a GOOD price when he's on his game, which I believe he's capable of. I think being paired with Jensen and Gudas will only help his game. Niskanen was a really rough partner last year.

The truth is, there's only one guy I'd be comfortable getting rid of and it's Holtby for a high impact young forward. And he'd have to be really damn good.

I never wanted to trade Orlov or Eller, but those are the only roster players i would think about moving. You can't move Holtby now, cause the team can't win without a good goalie. Unless Samsonov is 100% Ready, I can't imagine GMBM is even fielding offers for him.

I don't want Orlov traded either, just asking who might go if BMac were forced to do something for cap reasons. But think about it, if he did try an Orlov trade he could get maybe a 4/5 LHD back that he could put in the top 4 AND maybe get a 3rd line right winger. Both of these players could be cost controlled with a little term. It would save money and fill another spot without having to dig up someone in FA that might or might not workout. This is of course if he can't/won't bring Burky or Connolly back of course.

Quality for quantity trades very rarely work out for the team dealing the quality. It's very unusual. The truth is dealing Orlov would realistically make this team worse for the next two years and this is the team's only window really.

I truly think the likely move is GMBM dealing draft or prospect currency for a short term impact guy like Kreider. I don't see him moving any more guys like Orlov or Holtby because it would be too detrimental.

I get that. Thanks for the response. It seems like this time of year GM's have a lot of 'balls in the air' and anything can happen though. I am expecting something from Bmac tonight / tomorrow though and have trust in him that it will be beneficial.

Eller, and it would have to probably be a package of Eller+a pick/prospect for a better center with a little more salary from a team that is cap-strapped, or an equivalent center and a bottom-six winger. Top six is locked. Defense is effectively locked once Djoos is re-signed. It'd be utterly moronic (and I mean that to be as insulting as possible) to trade Holtby right now. Dowd is cheap, and Hagelin was just signed. That leaves Eller, Copley, and Boyd. Copley could get moved for a mid-round pick or as part of a package to trade up at the draft to another team that needs a backup and Samsonov could serve as the backup next year, but that's not moving the needle much at all. Boyd is fine, cheap, young, and under team control so there's not much reason to trade him unless you're somehow upgrading at a net-zero cost. Eller is the only one that makes sense, and that I frequently advocate for since he is losing his wingers.
