Marner won't even accept 11m for 8 years, what makes you think he'll take 9.75 for 7 years?

the Leafs haven't even offered 11M for 8 years. The last offer was believed to be 10M at the highest. Marner's camp wants 5 years 11M which is hilarious

i included Nurse because it was in James Mirtles article today that the Leafs were discussing a blockbuster deal with edmonton for Nurse that didn't come to fruition

Solid.

Guess he's right though. I mean, if he wasn't, TOR would've already signed Marner long time ago I'd say.

Having read it, nothing about Brown, Bracco and Borgman screams blockbuster.

Regardless, he's not accepting a long-term deal at 9.75. He has made it apparent that the reason he doesn't want a long-term deal is so he can make more money when he gets UFA status. Accepting a seven-year deal would take him to age 29, which is two years past when he would become a UFA, which is him missing out on two years worth of big bucks. If he accepts a five-year deal, it ends the year he becomes a UFA so he would be able to make a lot more money.

Last summer he would have taken 9 x 8 so there is a chance
