Only way you get Zib is if the deal is Skjei+Zibanejad for Byram+Makar+1st

Most unrealistic part of this dream is Colorado spending to the Cap...

I mean, I understand your point that the AGM didn't pay enough for Zib, but your price is absolutely outrageous. Zib is good, but he isn't "future best top pairing in the NHL good" + a 1st.

oh yeah? Says who...you? One of the richest owners in all the NHL, who gives the team teh green light to spend whenever they feel like they can win....spend to the cap during the Roy era, pulled back post Roy bc they need to build this right...and guess what they have the green light to spend to the cap once again, like they have done multiple times in the past.

but hey you do you taking out of you butt

that's why included Skjei too. tears of joy

Zib last year proved that he is a top line center and he's on an amazing contract. He took a jump similar to Mac did two seasons ago (obviously Macs was a little bit better) and is on an equally good contract. Mac was 65k per point two seasons ago and Zibanejad was 72k per point -- pretty great values in those contracts. It'll have to be a massive overpay to get him just like it would have to be a massive overpay to get Mackinnon, they are both equally important to their respective teams

I had no idea there were actually discussions on this site smile
This was mainly for my own curiosity to see if I could fit Panarin and a high-end 2C (AKA another 1C) under the cap. But I clearly underestimated Zib's value and his importance to the Rangers.

The whole premise of this trade is that NYR would sell high on Zib, get a middle-six C stop gap for a year, then go forward with the rebuild and younger pieces. But the more I think about it the more it seems like they may have fast-tracked their rebuild and it makes sense to keep Zib in their plans.
