I wouldn’t make the trade with Nashville. That Ellis contract is straight garbage on the term.

I wouldn’t do the Ellis trade either but that contract is gold. When Ellis hit’s year 8 that 6m is going to look like 3m now.

That Vancouver Trade is bad. Wouldn’t give up Lilly and zaitsev for any trade including tanev.

Nashville is not making that trade, especially after they traded Subban.

He’ll also be old as hell and possibly unplayable at 33/34 (5 years into the contract). Really don’t want to pay someone 6 mill to munch popcorn in the press box.

That Vancouver trade...Leafs get minimal cap relief, the NHL players about equal "on ice value", and Leafs have give up Liljegren too. Bad for the Leafs.

You're getting out of the remainder of zaits deal in 1 year.. That was the premise behind it.

The zaitsev deal is only bad for us this year. Now that Marleau has been traded I wish zaitsev didn’t ask for a trade.

I suppose and gives Leaf cap freedom, but now they don't have any RHD in 2020/21 where Liljegeren is depended on. Besides what's so bad about Zaitsev at 4.5m? Plays second pair and big time PK minutes.

5 years into the contractwith only 3 years remaining he will still be a top 4 Dman. 33 is the end of a defender’s prime but it certainly isn’t the end of their career. Like I mentioned earlier the 6m will not be what it is today. Just look at the contract handed out to Lindell. Top 4 defenders are going to be making 8m + in 5 years. Sure the contract would be better if it were 6 years but I’m not too concerned with having to move a vet RHD at the TDL with 2 years left in what will be a cheap contract.

Yes he can. I actually hope the leafs find a way to solve his issues without moving him. We will hopefully find out on Monday.

That’s what people said about Seabrook. Yeah sure he can play, but he’s way overpaid and handcuffs the Blackhawks pretty badly in cap. Just a bad idea overall

Then it becomes a Seabrook situation where yeah he can play, but he’s a low end top 4 who seriously limits flexibility with contracts. Same type of thing happened to Staal, Phaneuf and Greene. History repeats
