Well unless you're saying it's going to take more than 14m a year to resign Josi, I have no idea what kind of math you are doing.
Granlund - 5.75m
Smith - 4.25m
Josi - 4m

They could let Granlund walk and probably resign Smith for less than 4.25 a year. Josi 10m, Smith 3.5. Tight but very possible

Totally missed the Granlund contract

I was more implying that it might be unwise to resign Josi if you give these contracts out as Fabbro and Tolvanen come up shortly after. Sorry should have been more clear.

Why re-sign Josi when we can instead trade him for a 3rd pairing D-man, a prospect, and picks? It'll be fun!

Honestly best trade the preds have made. I wouldve tried to get zacha in there in place of a 2nd but it looked like the price of taking back salary was minimal player value

I'm not quite ready to say it's the best trade we've made, but I do believe Poile's hands were tied. Would love to actually know what was on the table across the several teams that were reportedly interested.

Ask me how I feel after the Free Agency fun. I have no problem shedding cap if you use it to make your team better. That part is yet to be seen, but we'll have an idea soon.

Tolvanen hasn't played hardly any mins in the NHL and Fabbro has played 10 regular season games they don't need to worry about them right now.

Supposedly Gaudette from Vancouver was one ask that they didn't want to give up.
