Marner to Ducks

Created by: Jtcurls
Team: 2019-20 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 26, 2019
Published: Jun. 26, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Looking to see if it is possible.........certainly looks like they could make enough space to make max offer and live with it.
By putting both Eaves and Kessler on LTIR they have tons of space to even sign a RHD in free agency plus offer sheet Marner.

Not saying it is likely but looks to me like they could do it.

Oh God yes please do this.

As a Kings fan, I would love for the Ducks to be cap strapped and without a 1st round pick for the foreseeable future.

As a Leaf fan would love any team giving up 4 1st rounders for Mitchy.

20-21 would be the only problem as the cap won’t rise much and perry’s cap hit becomes a problem but if they some how figured that out the following season the cap should rise pretty good with a new tv deal plus getzlaf coming off the books they’d be fine there after. Also don’t sign Myers here. Trade for Miller instead.

All that said a winger isn’t worth 4 1sts. If some is gonna offer sheet a player at the 4 1sts level better be a C or a D.

If the Ducks are going to offer-sheet anybody, it should be Brayden Point. Anaheim needs goal scorers, not another playmaker. The Ducks have plenty of "pear-shaped" scorers.

I'd consider it for an Ovechkin level winger, but Marner isn't anywhere near that level. I genuinely don't understand the hype around Marner... oh... wait... he plays for TOR. The kid is a good player, but he's not exactly at 40-50 goal scoring machine. He's a playmaking winger on a powerhouse offensive team - of course his point totals are going to be high.

Giving up 4 x 1st isn't something could or ever would do. If we were to offersheet anyone if would have to be a Karlsson-esq future #1RD. We're pretty well-equipped with talent up-front.

Is that because he's not worth it? I agree.

Agreed, but given that the team is transitioning to a new core, I think it would be very stupid to offersheet anyone to the point we're giving up a 1st. Don't want to be in the same situation OTT was in this year.
