Description

This is part of an ongoing exercise to narrow down who could and who could not make a realistic offer sheet for one of the top RFA's. In this case Mitch Marner of my Toronto Maple Leafs.

Mitch is a pretty sensitive guy so not sure he would agree to play for a team that has a nickname that is so so politically incorrect. Plus not sure Hawks would pay someone more then Kane...however, lets see if they can.

Okay so I am stopping here because this isn't happening. By paying Marner 10.6 or more the hawks have 2 million or so left to sign 4 forwards just to field a roster. While I do believe that this team is on its way back and I love there draft I think they will be saving money to pay Debrincat next year rather then offer sheeting a top RFA.

Definitely not happening with our recent additions on D plus no way would the Hawks offer (4) 1st round picks for anyone outside of McDavid.

That said, the threshold for any potential offer sheet threat the Leafs would have to match potentially would be $10.5M for 5 years as I don't see any team in the league offering more compensation then the required (2) 1st round picks, (1) 2nd round pick, (1) 3rd round pick. MM, as I've noted over the last week, is using this to force the Leafs hand and the Leafs should and believe will match by adding 1 year to 6 years or bringing the number to $10,569,900 just above the offer sheet at this level.

Liberals have taken issue with the name "Blackhawks". Same one's who take issue with the name "Redskins". While the official chief of the Indian Blackhawk tribe has gone on record to say it's an honor a hockey team would name it's team after our tribe. That doesn't stop the libs that like to stir the pot from saying it's racist.

Its sad that people not affiliated with the blackhawk tribe or any indian tribe get offended for them. Bhawks are not insulting unlike the redskins or cleveland indians logo.
