As the summer goes on my mind keeps changing on Nylander and mostly it's because of the numbers being thrown out of the Marner deal.
Before the season ended I came to conclusion that ya just gotta keep Nylander despite how much you may want to trade him because of the season he had...and trading pennies on the dollar is not really too smart.
What may (already is changing?) change for Leafs management is...how badly do they want Marner on this team? Because having him comes at cost higher than just the 9-12 million range he's rumored to get.
It means trading players management did not want to based on any number of things.
Leafs just can't bring back last year's D, and while some of us here think Lilegren, Sandin and Rosen (I'm looking at you
@Laudan , kidding) are going to play significant minutes, that would be a mistake.
Definitely for the first two D mentioned, Rosen is probably more prepared for some minutes.
If keeping Marner is the decision, then perhaps trading Kadri/Nylander becomes the way to add a top RHD. Does this make the forwards weaker? Yep...but this team has been top heavy and so far it has not worked.
