Signing Gardiner (not a Hab property to begin with) for below market value is screwing over the Habs?

Maybe Canes should be more concerned with icing the best possible line-up, instead of "screwing over the Habs".

How does signing Gardiner screw MTL? Do you really think he was gonna sign in MTL anyway?

What I see is a team with 4M cap space, 20 players... and more money lost at the end of the season...

you guys didn't make money at the cap floor... Now you are close to the cap ceiling + have to pay 21M$ out-of-pocket the first year.

The real losers... if they match or not, will be Carolina, there is no winning for Carolina here.

MTL doesn't lose anything, except 6 more days where MB can still negotiate and use up to 8M$ (with the summer 10% soft cap)

Montreal has the cap space to sign Gardiner right now. Montreal has been linked to trades to fill LHD more so than Gardiner. So I agree, I don't see how signing a LHD free agent is screwing over Montreal. Especially since delaying the offersheet response isn't delaying Montreal AT ALL (other than offersheeting another RFA).

Maybe offersheet Marner for $12M in the next 6 days and then accept the offer... that's a stretch, but it makes more sense.

You're not screwing MTL in any way. Carolina is taking a L no matter what happens with the offer sheet.

dude... the Canes had a loss of 3M this year.

Showing up to 8 games in the playoff doesn't solve 40 games with empty stands

The only way to screw the Habs is to wait and then retaliate with an offersheet to a player like Kotkaniemi in 2 years. Or give a 2 year offersheet to Domi next year to take him to UFA.

Thinking a Billionaire can't afford the $21 million is funny to me. Dundon lost $70 million on the AAFL as a joke.

sure bud, that's why he is suing,

also, the player has to accepted it first... Aho wants out... not Domi, not KK.

Domi, KK haven't been given the chance to leave MTL yet. Aho didn't want out, he wanted the money.... you habs fans really are not thinking with your brains here. Why would he want to leave his best friend (Teuvo Teravanien) and a team that just made the 3rd round, for a team that is going to take a step back this year, (face it Tatar overachieved, you traded away Shaw and Delaruiers, Thompson won't produce as well as he did, Price is getting older, the young kids will get better, yes but the team will fall back. I will eat my hat if Domi does what he did last year again.) and missed the playoffs last year anyway? He just wants the finances

at the end of the day, wether we get him or not ... it doesn't matter - it spiced up my day.

and you got to applaud MB's balls to try it ahahha. low-risk high reward - but a rare thing nowadays

You aren't selling me on this step back by listing Deslaurier and Thompson as the reasons why... Shaw is a good middle 6 RW, but is easily replaced within our system.

Sounds like your owner isn't as dumb as everyone thought. Congrats on keeping Aho.

No, Montreals LD needs some upgrades tbf, it makes a bit of sense. But it is a horrific source to use

I doubt it, there have been offersheets before. They're not used often or frequently
