This is the offer sheet they should have just sacked up and signed Aho to in the first place instead of trying to be cheap and cute.

The difference is that Tampa has a little more money than CAR

No, not with Carolina being owned by a Billionaire. This makes more sense because Tampa don't have the cap to match it

a Billionaire who only agreed to buy a hemorrhaging team even after a franchise year for sales because of the option to talk relocation after 5 seasons.

he only showed interest once his Houston expansion bid lost and only if the NHL agreed to future relocation talks because CAR is a small market that loses money regularly with league support since the beginning its just never worked. Houston on the other hand even as the 4th or 5th league in the Houston market they stand to make 10's of millions if not more a year based on volume and no state tax.

there's a reason he wanted the team in Texas , its cheaper to run and easier to profit.
CAR will never be a hockey market they proved it last year when they couldnt turn a profit
they had more support then when they won the cup but couldnt turn a profit .

Dundon's a Legal Loan Shark , he didnt get rich by giving money away
he got rich by loaning you money at 20-30% interest .
does this sound like a man who's going to piss away assetts on CAR?
or let it ride 5 seasons and rebrand Houston Hurricane's and make Millions maybe even billions (depending on how long he owns)

Dundon's Rich but not Trust fund Rich
He got his money by only spending it if you're credits on the line as insurance .

They could match the Aho deal. They would have trouble matching a 10.5M offersheet.

As for the billionaire. Yes he has money, but he is known to not want to spend it.

8 seasons was the relocation period, he bought them 2 years ago. With the relocation of Arizona to the central and Seattle coming in, the NHL wouldn't allow the relocation. You're logic here is severely flawed with obvious holes.

its not like they'd ignore tapping into a Market Bettman's been trying to crack since he took over .
the option was the only reason he settled for CAR , without it he had no interest
what does that tell you?

Houston Hurricane's

Moving an eastern team to the western conference would be vetoed by the league. It would have made more sense to take the Coyotes. Boi this offersheet has gotten to your head. Dundon is going to keep them here, because they league won't want a West-East imbalance. It's why Seattle is getting a team and not Quebec

Quebecs not getting a team because they only want to target the French market and didnt learn their lesson .
Quebec's void created the void for OTT to tap into the Billingual market without being a threat to MTL

but that being said Dundon just announced he's matching
so cant argue after its out of the horse's mouth Aho stays a CAR

It was never a doubt. This time last year Dundon said the only untouchable was Aho. There was no doubt in any canes fans mind he wouldn't be back next year

He wasn't a 78 pt player when we traded him. And we got one of the best offensive D men in the league for him in Dougie Hamilton

you gave up Hanafin and Lindholm for Hamilton and a 3rd pick essentially .
Ferlands last year before UFA and Adam fox you traded for a 3rd didnt seem to fit CAR plans .

i'm a Hamilton guy , great D and leader .
but if you told me i had to give up Mete and Domi for him i'd say no

Jordan Staal
looking for help at Center for Bulk Faceoffs
figured he could play with Domi

just looking for a #2 center who's can age into a #3 center mentoring youth.
by the time Danault goes UFA Poehling and Kotkanemi will be top 6 centers .
rather then re-sign danault we can trade for a Staal type now and move Danault 2021-22 before camp if RP and KK step up
or wait until TDL before he's UFA that year if not .

Turris is the other option, younger but not as consistent or physical as Staal.
