I think they tell backes to get all the surgeries he needs, bruins will pay for it all if he goes on LTIR for the year/remainder of contract.

good news is that if they bridge McAvoy, they won't have to pay him that much.

they can really move him if they want to they just need to pony up the assets to do it. Toronto wasnt scared to do it they shouldn't be either

why wouldn't you be paying him as much?? isn't he a really good RHD .. arent those at a premium in the league?? i would say hes probably getting 5 years at 8.5-9.

A lot easier said then done. I'm not a fan of paying a first round pick to unload a contract. I'd rather wait. It's only one more season of Backes, then buy him out next summer. The penalty to buy him out next summer is not bad. But keep the first round pick.
