Keith has 1 more year left than Alzner at a higher cost, and you are also giving back a 2nd and Kulak? Alzner will be buried this year and bought out next year so there goes that problem.
Trade Hudon for another 6th or let him walk, no place for him on this team.

Ya, i'm just trying to think of ideas to get rid of the Alzner contract while getting a top 4 D back...not easy.

I've gotten slammed for trying to do the same thing. I don't think there is a solution as even the teams that need to hit the cap floor don't want him.

Now is Montreal really going to resign Hudon?

This post is hilarious. 40 points, 23+ATOI, against the opposing teams best lines, $5M cap hit for a #1Dman... Yeah...Alzner should do it...

Playing for original six team team is a reason for Keith to leave his home in Chicago? Maybe if the US Marshalls have a warrant for his arrest would be better reason for Keith playing in Montreal.

Cap floor......that actually costs a team money (certainly big money) never happen. Look what it cost the Leafs....a first rounder for Carolina to buy out Marleau at 3m. Alzner and his 9m salary, wow what would be that trade premium for him?

You're not very smart...Alzner, a young top 4 dman and a 2nd round pick...do you even read? Kieth's best days are behind him and his contract will become an anchor soon.

Why not? Pyjama boy did it and Kieth is also Canadian.

Stop with this nonsense, Chicago is a big market team and they wouldn't break a sweat to buy out his contract. They could buy him out next year and it would be peanuts against the cap.

haha, this is such a bad move for CHI. They have PLENTY of BETTER D prospects than Kulak. He's fine, but he'd be a toss in piece and you're saying he's the main piece. He's 25 and fighting for NHL time on his 2nd team. Keith's on the same page and Weber. In fact...they're stats are essentially the same last year...and Weber actually had some help. CHI had 1 guy...Keith. Complete bias trade in favor of MTL. It's not even close to value.

Clearly you don't know the Hawks. Rocky would trade away assets to shed cap hits...Bickell, Hossa, Sharp...none bought out.

REGRESSION...it's a real thing look it up. Chi is going to have to come up with money to pay for their young prospects (jokiharju, Beaudin etc.). Kulak is a good top 4 placeholder for cheap and on a short term contract until those prospects are ready. Also, lol at comparing Kieth to Weber...they have totally different playing styles. Weber relies on his positioning and smarts whereas Kieth uses his speed and puck moving more. I would say that Weber's game is more sustainable (like Chara). Anyway, now that I've thought about it, it's much better to leave Chicago with that anchor of a contract. Montreal can just buyout Alzner next year and it would count for peanuts against the cap...we're fine either way.

REGRESSION...
and then saying the a bigger player slowing down when the games getting faster (like Seabrook) is a good thing.... Chara is a unicorn. There are no other 42 year old Dmen in the league. I actually like Weber a lot and think he and Keith would be a GREAT top pair...one of the best in the league, but you need to pay a fair price. This doesn't come close. Kulak's a fringe NHLer...he played in Laval last year...not sure how that means Top 4. Unless you meant top for in the AHL. Then yeah, I see your point.

LOL Kulak went from AHL to Bottom pair to Top 4 in one season (without injuries to other players). He scored 17 points in 57 games while only averaging 17 minutes of icetime. Not to mention his advanced metrics are really good. This would actually hurt Montreal more than you think to trade him. Weber is also a unicorn, consistently scoring 20goals a year while playing top PP and PK minutes and shutting down the best...I think he will be able to get to 40 years old and provide quality hockey. If not, it's no biggie, Nashville has the cap recapture if he decides to retire...either way, like I said, thinking about it now I would rather keep Kulak and let Chi worry about their Cap problems when Kieth inevitably declines.
