Simon Holmstrom news from HV71

https://www.hv71.se/artikel/ubbnajy4m-3iaijd/simon-holmstrom-till-new-york-islanders

Translated:
Simon Holmström was drafted in the first round of the New York Club, number 23 in total, and will now move to North America.

- Great fun for Simon to write NHL contracts. As it looks today, New York Islanders want to have Simon over to his organization as early as the fall and we send him a great deal of luck, ”says Johan Hult, sports manager at HV71.

They want to develop him in Bridgeport. Proved to be best way with Liljegren, he is gonna be stud. Simon is likely starting in AHL.

Guessing this means he's coming to play in the AHL. That's pretty cool and unexpected. Sounds like if he's healthy he can really thrive here.

That makes sense to me too. I didn't think he was eligible for the AHL at first

Here’s how to interpret it:

2020 lineup

Bailey-Barzal-Eberle
Lee-Nelson-Ho-Sang
Bellows-Wahlstrom-Holmstrom (aka this coming year’s first line in Bridgeport)
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

Admittedly haven’t watched too much tape of Simon, but what I’ve seen impressed me. He’s waaay further ahead in development than scouts seemed to suggest ahead of the draft.

The future is very, very bright.

Just to be clear - you mean this is the lineup 2 seasons from now, right? Because you're banking A LOT on these kids right away if this is the team we field in October, I don't think Wahlstrom will be a C either. Seems like Koivula is destined for that spot

I like it, but unless they have huge seasons I don’t think Bellows or Ho-Sang are destined to be on the Isles. We have way too many other prospects at this point that are passing them both by. I think we are gonna see more like this...

Bailey-Barzal-Eberle
Lee-Nelson-Wahlstrom
Beau-Koivula-Holmstrom
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

dal Colle can take Martins place if he isn’t resigned after this season, but I think he will be.

Emphatically not this season. Holmstrom playing in the NHL this year would be extremely far fetched.

But I am very optimistic about our prospects. We could definitely swing a kid line in 2020-21. I’m also a big fan of Koivula, but I think Wahlstrom will make the switch to Center. A lot of his success in BP could be attributed to his switch to center. Koivula will fit in somewhere, I just don’t quite know where. He might be the replacement for Cizikas once CC’s contract is up.

Is Holmstrom eligible for Bridgeport? I don't think so... Don't you have to be 20 to play in the AHL or 19 if you've come from the USDNT?

I think he's eligible because of no CHL affiliation. Similar to how TOR played Liljegren in the AHL

Interesting. That would be good for him to be here so fast.

Just looked it up. There is no age restriction for him because he was drafted out Europe and was not drafted by the CHL before being drafted by the Islanders.
