Agree that Backes would probably never waive to go to Edmonton, but you never know given how his time in Boston has gone. He ticks a few boxes for Edmonton since he wins faceoffs. I would take on his boat anchor salary for 2 years to shore up Edmonton's horrid 1RD/2RD position, but that's just me. Boston has also said that they are interested in Puljujarvi if you believe the rumours. This trade would free up more than 10m in cap space for Boston to re-sign MacAvoy and have lots of room at the trade deadline to sign pending UFAS and make another cup run.

Love Nurse, but he is not going to be cheap to sign next year for what he brings. I would rather trade him for a fast top 6 winger on a decent value/term contract like Kapanen's.
