This is assuming the Dubas doesn't make any more trades before Game 1. Once Dermott comes back Harpur is gone.

Bit early to say that. Think it depends on what we are looking for. If Babs decides we need some size, I could certainly see Hapur there.

Technically GM decides who's on the team and coach decides who's dressed for each game.

But it depends on the inner workings of each organization

The Leafs and Marner cant afford for it to go much into the season or hell just get a small one year deal. That's because the deal gets prorated if signed after the start of the season increasing the first year cap hit

Exactly like Nylander. At a certain point he sits and the Leafs will be able to make other moves. If it goes that way it'll be a 1 year deal to salvage the season. Neither side wants this.
Showing 8 mill in room but can flex that to 10 if required. Putting Dermott and Hyman on long term for a quarter season and not using a full 23 man roster when they return.

It certainly does depend on the organization, Babs picks the team out of camp. Dubas is involved obviously for cap reasons but Babs picks his 23.

I'm high on Lily too. But think he's better off with another year in the AHL. Best case is the Dermott Treatment coming up later in the year or a few games (<10) while Dermy is out.

That's fair. And I could certainly see that being the case if Dermott was/is healthy to start the season. But with some combination of a Mo/Ceci and Muzzin/Barrie top four and Dermott out , I could see lily in. Actually I kinda hope the moves are done for right now, at least til the trade deadline, and alot of Marlies get a look.

It can only be a good thing to have that separation between coach and GM, unless we're going back to the days of Quinn where a guy is both coach AND gm.

Dubas creates the roster options and Babcock determines the day to day roster/line up. That tension is a good thing, imo. If Dubas is determining the lineup choices or if Babs is too involved in creating the roster options then I think there could be a problem.. unless there is some kinda perfect relationship between coach and GM.

Come to think of it, the blurring of coach/gm roles in Toronto is a dynamic that might have been playing out the last couple of years and something that might be in the process of being corrected..
