Why does everyone think Kreider is worth so much? I’m truly baffled by this.

Great analytics for what it's worth (I know some don't like them, understandably).

Flyers might be best positioned now, Avs IMO had a poor offseason but are still at least one of the best positioned (I think the Habs, Flyers, and Lightning all have a case).

This is an incredible overpayment for a rental.

True. For a 50 point guy. But I could see the Avs going after him if burakovsky and jost are struggling to live up to expectations. But I don't think they'd want to use their 1st pick. Kamenev Meloche and a 2nd is fair IMO that's equivalent to 3 2nd round picks for a rental

As a Flyers fan it all just depends on Hart.

True, he lookrd to be a top 20 goalie when he played though (T-16 in SV% and T-17 in GAA). People give him the price comparison. I think he can hit that ceiling by 25. And he's a twenty year old rookie. He'll at least be a top 15 goalie long term.

In what way did the Avs have a poor offseason?

No big top six winger addition, payed Donskoi instead who I feel is repetitive, lost value in Barrie trade and Burakovski trade while acquiring guys who will need to have bounceback years for the deal to be fair, traded Soderberg for a meh return, and got two waiver eligible depth dman as sweeteners.
Adding Kreider would be a great move IMO. I also prefer Ferland to Donskoi, (tier 2 UFA vs tier 3 in my books). It's partly opinion and preference though. Poor is probably too strong but they could've done a lot better.

I also just think in terms of assets and positioning, and I think their poorer positioned than when they started, which would cause me to be hard on them.

Top 6 winger was never something they were going to target heavily (outside of Panarin, but that was never going to happen anyway). They needed a 2C and they got exactly that by trading away someone who wasn't going to resign with them anyway (Barrie). Sorderberg is the same situation as Barrie, coming off a career year and he wasn't coming back after this year either. Bura is definitely someone they are relying on to have more production than he had with the Caps, but he is also going to be given the chance to do that in a top 6 role and PP time (didn't get either in Washington). Donskoi is also a strong possession player who will see PP2 time and has a good chance to get 40 points. And they also drafted Byram and Newhook. Not saying they had the best offseason ever, but saying they had a poor one just doesn't make sense. And adding Krieder, with 1 year left on his deal especially at this price point, makes zero sense with all of the other contracts they have coming up in the next 4 years. They added top 6 wingers for cheap hoping the advanced stats show up in a bigger role.

Would be super happy with that result.
