Honestly, that’s ridiculous for Ottawa if they did that. That’s 4 straight lottery picks and decent players for a guy who can’t even get the oilers in the playoffs. What makes you think he’d get the senators in? Terrible trade for Ottawa, absolute steal for Edmonton.

I don't think the senators even want to make this deal.
Even with McDavid they aren't going to be competitive for a while and they are giving up a bunch of prospects and picks in the middle of a rebuild which really doesn't work. Trust me I'm a leafs fan.
The oilers have proven that McDavid can't take a team all the way on his own already and with this trade the Sens are giving up all the guys who might've been able to compliment McDavid's play.

You would be in a better situation if you just offer sheeted Marner. You only lose the 4 first rounders and have a solid young core.

the sens and Melnyk are probably the only team in the NHL who would turn down a McDavid trade bc he makes 13m-12m per year in signing bonuses.
