Description
I have no idea how this could work or why Vancouver would do it. Just something floated by a writer.

I would assume Vancouver would try to flip Miller.

The question is how bad is Loui Eriksson? Is he as much as VAN's fans describe it or...
Because he's got three years, Backes 2.

And wayyy too low for McAvoy

Agreed, lots of questions on Loui.

It't only a one year deal for Chuck so I figured he wouldn't get a ton. Who knows what happens at this point.

Probably high for one year, he gets 2x3.5, 3.5 or long term

McAvoy is a group 1 RFA. That’s actually too much on a 1 year deal.

Too low for Carlo though

Explain why this isn’t enough for Mcavoy. I think it’s close to double what he would get on a one year deal. The last high end group 1 d man I can remember that signed a one year deal off his entry deal is actually Krug. He was coming off a 45 point season or something. 45 point d men get paid right?? Probably in line for 5 million a year seems like it would be fair right? Ya, he got 1.4. Because: group. 1. Rfa.

The thing you don't understand is that just because he has no " leverage ", you give him nothing. It's not all about the money, it's also about giving the guy what he deserves

On a long term deal, sure. Why did Krug get so little on a one year deal?

The thing is that we're not signing McAvoy to a one-year deal, even two would be low. Go for 3-4 or 6-7. Bridge is preferable.

Listen, im all for paying the guy but we need to cut the crap with "what he deserves" he has played in the league 2 years. he has missed 47 out of 164 games (roughly 25%) due to injuries. He is going to be a stud in the national hockey league, that being said he hasnt won anything, he hasnt "earned" a trouba contract. He is our best 2 way right handed dman playing significant minutes and im all for paying the dude 7-8m a year long term... but what he "deserves" as a group 1 rfa is a small bridge deal either one or 2 years. not a big money deal.

Hm, so then why wasn’t that the case with Krug and Reilly smith when they were coming off 40 and 51 point seasons?

of course the landscape 5 years ago was very different. The rfas got screwed they had no leverage but now rfas are a huge part of the landscape and have more power.

Backes has averaged 17g per 82 games since joining the B’s. If they are not moving his entire cap hit or a significant portion of it there is no point in trading him and other assets for an even longer contract with similar production.

No. I don’t think he gets one year. 2.5 would make sense for a year
