Does the Tampa trade even save salary to Tampa?
I dont think they do it.

This has been proposed before, like Johnson to Flames but dont see the trade fit honestly

Tyler Johnson wont waive his full NTC for Calgary, And Calgary doesn't have the cap space for Jake Gardiner. He wants 7 x 7 no way he takes that deal.

Calgary is one of the more likely places he will waive to. I agree on Gardiner though, makes no sense for the Flames.

Tampa doesnt need cap space this year, they need it next year. Getting Johnsons 5M off the books helps a lot

How? Dont forget you just added 6 million approximately in the trade.

6 million that's not on the books next year when they need the money... Bolts have more than enough cap to sign Point this year, next year they have Sergachev, Cirelli, Cernak, and just gave Vassy a massive raise. The only contract they can efficiently ditch next year without asking a player to waive is Killorn and his 4.45 isn't enough

personally i think the trade would become Brodie + Jankowski for Johnsson and Rutta now though since Tampa as so many RD now

If they can sign Point, than why haven't they?
It's because it's not so clear.

What? none of the big RFA's have signed yet (minus Aho who was offer sheeted). First one to sign sets the bar, simple as that. Not to do with a teams cap space.
